Personal Narrative: My Granpa

Improved Essays
It was 2005 when my sister, mom and me were invited to Frisco Dallas Texas. My father whom I have vague memory of was incarcerated for marijuana related drug crimes when I was only 2. I received the short end of the short end of the stick of life and was forced to pay for my father’s mistakes. My Granpa is my Hero for his kindness and compitence that I will always be grateful for. The kindness that filled the void where a father figure should reside.
A father figure he was. Upon arriving at his home I felt a wave of reassurance. I can still remember the first time I opened his door. A rush of cold air engulfed my body. I could only describe it as refreshing. Infact, this instance is the first memory I can bring to mind. In his presence I had

The schools in the area were splendid. The teachers were caring, the work was engaging and memories were created. I have many memories of my childhood in Texas that I will never forget. Like the birthdays, parties, friends, adventures, and trips. Without those memories I wouldn’t have a good childhood. I feel extremely to him. As I grew older my mom was becoming homesick. She figured it was time to move back to Louisiana with the rest of my family, so we drove away.
As we drove away, my Texas chapter flipped and my Louisiana chapter started. It had been 8 years since my bizarre adventure in Texas yet it feels like yesterday. I can still hear the tranquility. I can still smell the freshness of the air. I definitely feel grateful. Every Month when he comes to Louisiana to manage his rental properties he visits us. Those visits are extremely fun. He takes us to places I went to when I was younger. We reminisce about our past and ponder about the future.
No matter how harsh your past was, make sure you are grateful to the people who were there for you. Be it a teacher, coach, friend, or family. Pass on the kindness your role model gave you and use it to leave a positive impact on people’s lives and also use it to become successful in your own

In early August of 2012, my dad and I decided to visit my Grandpa and Grandma Hurt in Florida. We hadn’t seen them in a couple years and it was time to spend quality time with them because time goes quickly, and you never know what could happen. The car ride seemed forever, but I was so excited to go to Florida. The car ride was almost unbearable to sit hour after hour. The only peculiar thought about this trip, is that my grandpa was sick, and the doctors did not know what exactly was wrong.…

MOVING FROM STATE TO STATE TO STATE (only 3 times but 4 different houses) (this is also partially my life story) I was born in Salt Lake City, UT. I had to stay in the hospital for about 2 weeks because I had minor bleeding in my brain & a small hole in my lung. We then lived in a duplex, and my dad was a youth pastor at Mountain Side Baptist Church in Sandy. Then I think when I was a little over 1 year old, my dad became the pastor of our church, so we got to live in a parsonage for free as part of my dad’s salary.…

Moving from Albuquerque, New Mexico was the first impactful event of my life. When I was seven years old and almost a half, my parents told me that my family of six was going to pack up everything, leave our home, our livelihood, and move to Idaho. At this time, I was young, but I knew I was going to miss Albuquerque. Already, I knew I was going to miss the plump dappled quails who walked quickly with their wee babies toddling behind in a straight line and the skinny, all leg, roadrunners who would sprint across the roads. As well as those birds, I was going to miss my little Crocodile Smile green room.…

I spent many hours after school sitting in the sparsely active cafeteria, while she served the students with a smile on her face. My Grandma was a kind, selfless woman who would never let you go hungry. She instilled in me how important it is to take care of the people around you, so that when you are in need, they will take care of you. It’s cliche, I know, but the world truly did lose a great human being. After her passing, My Mimi, who is my father’s grandmother, took me in and supplied me everything I needed to succeed in life.…

The first person I chose to interview was my paternal grandfather. I felt that my grandfather had an interesting insight and perspective on death due to his age and culture. Typically in the Hindu faith, the eldest son takes care of the grandparents up until death which I have witness first hand. As a young child we traveled quite a bit, given that my father was a surveyor for the US Army Corp of Engineers, before we moved to Arizona when I was ten. I continued living in Arizona through college, where I pursued my degree in engineering. While I was in my third year I realized I did not want to be an engineer, but I it was important to me to finish and earn my degree.
