Personal Narrative: My Grandpa

Picture life's ultimate teacher. A strong and compassionate man is what I envision. To me that man is my Grandpa. He taught me how to do every day tasks. He also taught me skills that might not seem necessary but, can come in handy if needed. Even to this day when I visit him he has something new to teach me. My Grandpa has taught me many things. When I was 4 years old, he taught me how to ride a bike. I would ask him everyday to take me out and teach me, and he would. He was there for every fall and every re-fall. He was always right by me, ready to pick me up. He would give me a pep talk then we were back at it again until I finally got it right. He also taught me how to use a screw driver. My grandpa was assembling a new shelf we recently purchased. He picked up the screw driver and curious me asked, “How does that work?” He then gave me the screwdriver and instructed me on how to use it. I now use a screw …show more content…
He was sitting there doing a crossword puzzle. I did not know what a crossword puzzle was. He sat me down and he explained it to me step by step. Then we worked on it together. If I had not learned how to do a simple crossword puzzle what would i have done with all of my extra crossword puzzles for history class. Magic tricks were not his strong suit. But there was two tricks that he loved to do. Whenever I would for a quarter he would pretend to pull it out of my ear. By the time I was seven years old, I had picked up on the trick. Now I pull it on my little cousins. The other magic trick was finding my card out of the deck. This was a lot more difficult to pick up on. I had to ask him but he would never tell. “A magician never reveals his secrets,” He said. By the time I was twelve I had caught on. Now I also use this on my little cousins and try to pass on to them what my grandpa passed to me. None of this compares to what he ha taught me most
