Personal Narrative-My Grandma's Room

Decent Essays
We were eating at McDonald's, my mom, grandpa, brother, and I down the road from the hospital. I had a chicken sandwich with only mayonnaise. We decided to head back to the hospital after we were all done eating. We were in the car finding a parking spot in the parking lot, after we found one we went back into the hospital. The receptionists greeted us as we headed to the elevator to go up to my grandma’s room. We walked down the hallway for quite a bit until we got to room 311 - my grandma’s room- I was the first one to walk into my grandma’s room. I knew that the moment in time was coming and I hadn’t really prepared myself for this moment.
My grandma was not breathing when I walked into the room, at this time I didn’t know what to do so

We were taken to the hospital to nurse us back to health. When we arrived there I was taken to a blue and white room and was instructed to lay down and take rest. The bed had dark blue covers and was less than comfortable. The nurse attached me to an IV and left the room to bring me some food. As soon as she left I yanked the IV off and limped to a small glass window.…

The summer of my senior year I made the courageous decision to begin the first steps in my future career and give my time to a local hospital. Like any other day, I walked in to this sterile smelling hospital and sat at the front desk patiently waiting to greet new visitors. All throughout the hospital there were little kids yelling, elderly people holding hands, and families talking about their loved ones. It was around 7:00 pm when my partner and I were just about done delivering gifts to patients rooms. This was the last delivery of the night.…

The car ride seemed forever, but I was so excited to go to Florida. The car ride was almost unbearable to sit hour after hour. The only peculiar thought about this trip, is that my grandpa was sick, and the doctors did not know what exactly was wrong.…

“If you don’t go the hospital you are going to die,” my mom screamed at me in September of my freshman year of high school in an attempt to get me to go to the hospital. I had slept and violently shook the entire ride home from school while riding in my mom’s car. My sleeping and constant shaking, as well as my burning forehead, convinced my mom that I had a high fever. I looked at her and then said, “Okay, if you think I am going to die, I’ll go.” My mom backed the car up in our driveway, and she turned the car around.…

Throughout my life, I have been the victim of several burglaries. At the age of seven, someone, in broad daylight, broke into our house and shot my dad in the chin. I was displaced to my aunt's house for weeks and missed most of my 1st grade year. When I was seventeen, I walked in on my home being robbed by some local kids. They were upstairs when I came into the house and escaped through a window, but the idea that I could have come home earlier still haunts me.…

My grandpa, grandma and I made it to the cabin and ran out of the car, I got to the door a while before them. My grandma finally arrived at the door and unlocked it,I was so excited that, at first I didn't know what to do. Then I ran inside and glanced around, in 30 seconds I had surveyed the entire cabin, it turned out to be a little cabin, although still pretty cool. Large enough for the necessities and for a little leg room, very nicely sized. I went outside and took it all in, weeds, weeds, and, oh look, weeds over there too.…

I remember sitting in a hospital lounge around 4 am with my family, still trying to understand what had just happened to my mother. I remember one second me in a car with her driving back home from an exhausting road trip, and the next hastily being driven to Frankford Hospital, where my mother had been helicoptered to. A doctor came to meet us and told my father something in a low voice that I couldn’t make out. My father turned to my uncle and said to drive me, my sister and my grandma home, as he would be staying at the hospital for a few days. I later had been told by my sister that my mother had suffered from another stroke.…
