Personal Narrative: My Goalie

Down 2 goals with 10 minutes left in the championship game of the biggest tournament of my life. Time is running out like miniscule grains of sand dropping from an hourglass. My team stops a shot and kicks the ball up the field. I jump and head the ball as hard as I can up the field, mustering all my strength to get up the field and win it. My arms are pumping as I retrieve the ball and cut towards the goal. All that separates me from scoring is one defender and the goalie. I fake a cut right, leaning my body as far to the right as possible and cut left past the defender. Now, just the goalie and I. With all of my remaining strength I swing my leg back and shoot the ball as hard as I can. The ball goes soaring past the goalie into the back of the net. One goal down, two to go.
With 5 minutes left in the game we find ourself 1 goal down from overtime. The opposing players do their best to hold off our team for the remaining 5 minutes, but it isn’t enough. We win the ball and rush up the field as a unit and start pounding shots at their goalie until he can’t

The other team relentlessly attacks and pushes up the field. After 20 minutes our goalie has been drilled by shot after shot. Our goalie makes a diving save but pushes the ball out of bounds, and the other team comes up with a corner. I decide to stand on the front post to try to block any close post shots. The other team rockets the ball in towards the middle of the box and one of their players lunges himself towards the ball with every bit of strength he has left in him. He connects solidly and the ball comes spiralling right above my head. I jump up, and push my body forward as far as possible and the ball launches away from the goal, away from the danger. Just as the ball is cleared, the referee ends the game. Whether you are 2 goals down in the biggest soccer game of your life or you are struggling in a class, never giving up and picking up your head is always a great

I can remember like it was yesterday, when the championship game was on the line. Sweat dripping from my body likes wet towels being drench by hand. Fans’ shouting from both sides of the stands as the game is continuing on. Before the Quarterback snaps the ball, I took a deep breath as if it would have been my last and nod my head. The ball shoves into the Quarterback hand and everybody collide into each other like eighteen wheelers.…
