However once I graduated my GPA was still well below most PA school standards though I was trying my hardest. This is why for the past year and half I've been taking and retaking classes to boost my GPA above the 3.0 mark. I think if one was to look at my transcripts they will see how dedicated I am to achieving my goal in attending school at…
Brown is a place where students have the freedom to grow, learn about themselves, and enjoy life. In all my years of school there was always someone looking over my shoulder, interjecting their opinions, or spoonfeeding me the answers. I want my college education to be my own. Taking ownership of my education is a large responsibility, but I am mature enough to handle the challenge. The collaborative atmosphere of Brown, where students work with, instead of against, one another, will give me the guidance and support I need to figure out the best educational path for myself.…
Being the first in the family to take interest in college is already enough for everyone to push me in the direction to achieving it. I do not want to disappoint them or myself, I want to be on the graduation stage with my hand grasping that master degree. About me, others describe me as opinioned, stubborn and independent. Although I do not want to admit it, these traits all apply to me. Opinioned doesn’t sound as an appealing word to me I should say I like for people to understand my views completely also I don’t mind if someone does not agree with me, it just adds more depth to the discussion.…
I truly believe that in my years of schooling I have displayed all four essentials; scholarship, leadership, character, and service. One of the things National Honors Society looks for is outstanding grade point average. and last trimester I had a 4.0 GPA. One of my goals in high school was to learn and get good grades…
College for me was an unreachable goal that I had set my eyes on upon graduating from high school. Since I could remember I had was diagnosed with a learning disabilities. With theses disabilities colleges would be a hard road; nevertheless, I want to attend school. Starting in community college I worked long hard hours trying to grasps the high speed learning environment. Many times in college with disabilities, i would ask myself if it even worth it, many they were right to give up this goal.…
An experience that has happened to me that will help me with my goals in school would be my time in the military. While I was in the military I learned that using time wisely, making smart choices and improved my reading and writing skills. Using time wisely is one of the most important things you can do. If you waste your time you can get so far behind that you fail. I have never been a failure and don’t plan to start anytime soon.…
“I know applying to colleges is the last thing you want to do right now, but you might change your mind,” a trusted friend told me. It was December of my senior year of high school, and college application deadlines were approaching quickly. I was recovering from a major illness at the time, and wasn’t ready to think about college. My plan was to spend a year living at home and working before I pursued higher education. In the following months, my recovery progressed rapidly.…
My academic history has been a combination of A/B and A honor roll. In elementary I was an A honor roll student. Then, once I started middle school I became an A/B honor roll student. In all of my years of school I have struggled with all of my mathematics classes. However, I am successful in my sciences, english/ language arts, and my special arts classes such as theatre, art, and music.…
Much adversity and vicissitude throughout my life has broken me down and slowed progress—forcing action to resolve many disputes and reverse path. Early in life, my parents split up; leaving me with my mother. beginning school, a learning disability forced much struggle within the battle of learning to read, but I persevered through diligence to be an A/B honor roll student throughout grades 1-5. Depression and anxiety paired with severe bullying drastically dropped my attendance and grades as I struggled with the unaccustomed habitat I was forced into. Consequently, I went about a large stint in life with little desire to live—believing I was alone.…
I always like to make sure I excell in everything I do. In life, we do not always get what we want. There will be ups and downs throughout anyones journey in life. If I recieve a C it is not the end of the world, but that C does not justify me as a person. I am a college student who also works a vigorous job, that is also very time consuming, and requires a…
In this paper I will be telling you on why I should deserve a better grade than I am currently getting. With my participation in class and the amount of research and work I have done on my papers make a strong argument for me getting a better grade. I will first talk about my article I shared in class and then talk about the Wall Street Journal assignment, ending with my resume. Then to close out the paper, I will talk about what grade I am currently getting and why I should be higher.…
This past year has been a long one for me; it came with many successes and many failures. I would like to break down my circumstances based upon semester that way then I can explain the changes in circumstances that have created the demise of my grade point average. In my first semester here at U Albany I believed was a great success, out of five classes in three I received an A, another C-, and lastly and E. I would like to make it fully clear that I wish I had dropped my statistics class for which I had received and E. However, I did not and decided if I truly tried within the class that I could at least obtain a passing grade.…
As embarrassing it is to admit, my senior year of high school I couldn’t name four public universities in the state of Texas, I indeed had no idea what A&M was before my senior year of high school. I state this to emphasize my lack of basic college knowledge. I fell into the very populated pool of freshman that were shocked after their first semester and became traumatized when finally understanding that this wasn’t high school anymore. The tragic academic aspect of my freshman year set the tone for my GPA for my remaining years at A&M. Here in college I process and understand material in class and while studying but the outcome continues to be the opposite when I get my exam scores back. The pressure to improve my GPA haunts me and is a constant struggle because realistically there isn’t much room for improvement.…
So far, I have already succeeded in achieving a near all A`s but I still struggle with some classes-mainly English. I have also made sure to be as organized as I can be as well as saving past work so I can refer to them, along with my notes when needed.…
The pursuit of higher education has been an important part of shaping me as a person and has always held great value to me. When I started college at New York Institute of Technology in the fall of 2007 I was a mix of excited and nervous because I had left my country (Jamaica) to move to the United States to attend college, but I knew that I had so much to learn and was excited for the opportunities that would await me. My freshman year was a great experience and I thrived in my new environment however, due to financial difficulty I was unable to start my sophomore year in 2008. This was very disheartening for me and I wondered if I would be able to complete my degree.…
