During junior year winter break while browsing Georgia Tech website, I encountered two figures 32% and 25%, the year 2015 and 2016 freshman acceptance rates. The huge 7% rate drop challenged me immensely, making me uncomfortable, shattering my chance to be a proud Yellow Jackets. Descending acceptance rate inspired me to focus on what I wanted to accomplish, despite how uncomfortable I felt. As the spring semester progressed, I worked rigorously on my AP courses and scored perfect in SAT Math and SAT subject tests. Perseverance, motivation, and hard work helped me tremendously to maintain ascending GPA during the spring semester and boosted my confidence to continue a similar trend in the senior year.…

Sophomore year of high school, I began planning my future. It was a bit early, but one can never be too prepared. My family was invested in me following the traditional path of receiving a state university degree and then settling down to a stable and unexciting career. Since they offered to help finance this future, I put aside my dreams of traveling the world and tried to figure out an approach to satisfy both my parents' plans and my dreams. Quite a few panic attacks and bouts of existentialism later…

Everyone can agree Junior Year was hard, and most people associate it with stress. The exams, the grades, the clubs, the sports; Life becomes chaotic easily. But if I had to describe Junior year in only 2 words, I would say “new experiences.” Like Dimmesdale who let the fear of becoming disreputable come in the way of his love, I used to be controlled by fear; declining to make memories because I was afraid of getting in trouble or getting hurt. In 7th grade we had a class called project adventure in which we got to zip line and do other similar activities.…

From a purely numerical standpoint, I have nearly no business being considered a prestigious individual by institutions of higher learning, like Knox University. My weighted GPA is a 3.3, my unweighted a 2.93. Hardly impressive. What this application cannot tell you about my GPA is that it is not an accurate reflection of who I am today. During my first semester of college I endured many hardships along with some irresponsibility on my part, which I am not proud of, but taking ownership of my mistakes are the first steps to improvement and success. These factors combined led to unsatisfactory grades and disappointment from myself, my family, friends, and peers who know what I am capable of and expected more from me. Starting my first semester of college as a biology major I over extended myself. The high school that I attended (J.P McCaskey High School) required three science credits in order to graduate, therefore I took one science class for my freshman, sophomore, and junior year each. For my senior year I did not take a science class because I struggled with the higher…

Time management has never been a skill that I have been particularly successful with, not when I was a high school student and even now as a full-time college student. During high school, I was constantly completing important projects or assignments at the last possible moment and working on things without planning out the time it would take. But now, as a college student, it has been stressed to me how important time and energy management skills are if I want to work more efficiently. While working on time management action plans, I found that scheduling out important activities and assignments seemed to be the most helpful for me.…
