Personal Narrative: My Freshman Year Of Volleyball And Basketball

Improved Essays
My freshman year I joined volleyball and basketball. Those sports were the reason why I found people who were just like me. During volleyball season, there were these two girls that started everything. They were Maite Ruvalcaba and Alexus Martinez, and they became my best friends. We did anything and everything together, we were inseparable. Later that year Maite and Alexus had a downfall and stopped being friends. I stuck with Maite because I believed her side of the story more than Alexus’s. Maite and I became the best of friends, we were always together. We did every sport together, we had many sleepovers, and we went to many parties together. During our sophomore year we met a girl named Anadalia. Anadalia became our friend and was then part of our …show more content…
The only downside of Anadalia was she was very secretive. She never really talked to us and she would not go out with us much. Maite and Anadalia would always argue over stupid things. They acted like a married couple. Later during our junior to the start of our senior year Maite and Anadalia stopped being friends. Again, I stuck with Maite because she was more than a best friend to me she was like a sister. My senior year I also met two other girls that were part of me changing as a person. They are Jackie Ledezma and Alexis Gutiérrez. The second I met them I knew in an instant that we were going to be super close as friends probably even sisters. Whenever I had problems with Maite I went to them for advice. Soon after our friendship Jackie and I soon got close with Alexis’s family, especially her mom. She acted like our mom, we told her everything. Her mom did not really like Maite because of the way she

I have played baseball ever since I was a young kid, but somehow, at seventeen I still had numerous struggles with it. You would think after my grandpa being drafted to the Pittsburgh Pirates, a Major League baseball team, and my dad getting a full ride to the University of Denver their skill would have rubbed off on me, but you would be wrong. I wasn't terrible, I could hit a 90 mile per hour fastball and I could, for the most part, field a ground ball. However, I was definitely not about to be scouted by the college scouts.…

Like all children all I ever wanted was to be big and do big people things. I engaged in a few family members that I would look up to and try everything they did. I use to pretend to go grocery shopping and being a parent at times. At the age of eight, I had worn the worst pain ever and that was watching my five, year old brother getting hit by a car while trying to cross the street riding a bicycle that had a loose chain. I remember him trying to get up and get to me, but a few adults that had witnessed the accident had told him to lay down.…

Moving schools away from all of my friends should’ve been an appalling experience, surprisingly, it was a blessing in disguise. I went to Agnes Baptist Elementary from kindergarten to 5th grade and I had friends that I've known since I was 3. I loved it there and knew the school like the back of my hand. Everything was superior, like most good things, though there were times where they weren’t, I was harassed by a bully almost everyday, my grades were getting inadequate, and my mom didn’t want me to be a sad, disconsolate 7th grader at a new junior high. In the result, I moved and I went to Savage Middle School, a school that had 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.…

Moving here from North Carolina when I was four changed my life completely, I was away from my family who I lived with my whole life, thrown into a school with a bunch of kids who lived here since they were born and told to “make friends.” This changed the next 13 years of my life to something I can never picture not having. The first four years, both my parents had full time jobs and my grandma helped raise me a lot, she taught me so many manners and how to behave, she even ended up living across the street from me for 2 of those years, they were rough for my parents, new baby, just moving, having to find jobs, making friends, and getting food on the table for me. Thats where my amazing family came in, with bringing home cooked meals…

At some point in every person's life, they will have a special experience that will stick with them forever. One of my most memorable moments happened recently at a home volleyball game against Traverse City West. Approaching freshman volleyball season, the upperclassman spoke highly of the importance of overpowering TC West. As a ninth grader, I had the mindset that I would be playing for the freshmen team. I didn't think it really mattered what the outcome of the game would be, since we were only ninth graders.…

The first time I learned basketball was when I am at the 6th grade when my physical education teacher registered me in a basketball summer camp. Then, I started playing basketball in high school as part of my school’s team and I’ve been playing ever since.
