Personal Narrative: My Freshman Year Of High School

Decent Essays
Freshman year
I was very nervous to start high school, but I was a little happy to at the same time. It was exciting to move on from middle school. I was nervous because it was my third year in the Brunswick City Schools and I didn’t have very many friends. I was also nervous because there were so many people than I was used to seeing. I remember my first day of 7th grade being scared because I was new and because there was so many people. Going into my first day of highschool felt like that, but even more nerve racking because of all the students. I remember getting lost to my first period geometry class. I didn't realize the hallway split into another and I got lost. I also remember walking in and all these sophomores were in there

"Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty and persistence" I have had many ups and downs over the course of my life thus far. One specific example of this took place during my freshman year of high school. When I started high school it was very challenging for me, partially due to the fact that; during this time, I was lazy, unmotivated and did not really take school seriously. This by far is one of my biggest regrets to this day. Who would ever think that not trying during my freshman year would continue to follow me throughout the course of my academic career.…

When I first entered high school, I was terrified, but a little excited. The idea of being surrounded by a bunch of strangers, and being in a new environment made me tremble. When my first day of high school finally came, I realized that it was a much different experience than I expected. There were no teachers really guiding you around, the only person you could depend on was yourself. I learned that more and more everyday.…

In high school my most outstanding example of a time when I set an example as a student leader was my sophomore year in high school. My sophomore year of high school I was brought up to the varsity soccer team, the team that I was on was not extremely hard working and or dedicated. As a sophomore I was afraid to stand up and verbally tell the entire team that we need to step it up, or we are going to have a horrible season, so I decided to make my statement apparent by my actions. First, I started by always being the first one to every practice, putting pressure on my other teammates to do the same, in result everyone started to arrive to practice earlier. The second step I took was difficult since I was one of the youngest players and the…

The day of August 27, 2012 I was officially titled a freshman. One look down those unknown red and blue walls, will forever change my perspective of high school. There was an instant moment of disbelief in my freshman, I was terrified, and no thought came to mind as to how I was going to survive high school for the next four years. Of course I knew it'll be different from my tiny middle school, but will it be like the cliché movies about the upcoming of age, or resemble the happiest times of life. From that first day, I knew I wasn’t like everyone else.…

During my freshsman year of highschool, I made a long term goal to become the cross country captain by senior year. I listened to the upperclassmen on the team and took their advice as I matured throughout each season. I understood that in order to become captain of the team I would have to work my tail off. The obstacles that stood in the way included competition between other schools and whether or not I would put work in during the offseason. I challenged myself to get through these obstacles by working out in the offseason.…

Track and field has been the highlight of my high school life. The social aspect, the large assortment of events from which to choose, and the people I met are things I will always treasure. I especially loved the fact that there was always a place for everyone. If you weren’t too quick, then discus was your event. If you could build up quick bursts of speed, long and triple jumps suited you.…

High school changes people. They express themselves, become opinionated, and they start to look at the world differently as they experience things they have never encountered before. A wise Oliver Wendell Holmes said, “Man’s mind stretched to a new idea never goes back to its original dimensions.” This quote is an excellent way to describe my experience in high school.…

The end of the day comes whether you have gotten up to do something productive or if you have simply remained inanimate while time moves around you. I have found that the present slips away while you are worrying about the future. We are constantly telling ourselves that if we just get through this, then everything after will be better. We forget to appreciate the moment while constantly reaching for a hypothetically more fulfilling life. Once we graduate high school, or get through a challenging class, or finish a workout, everything after will get easier.…

I remember my days in high school like it was yesterday. My freshman year I didn’t really know anyone at my school because I was new to the area. Once the school year got started I began to make friends and to be known around the school. At the end of the year, our teachers started to mention junior high. By the way they described it, it seemed alarming and unnerving. Honestly, I started to become more scared than excited. I started getting anxiety about the little things like whether I have enough time to get from one class to the other or will I have enough time to get my books from my locker. Once I got to junior high it was completely different than what I expected, it wasn't hard or intimidating, it was actually kind of exhilarating.…

My sophomore year I failed a class…
