“The hypotenuse of this right triangle can be found by using the formula a2+b2=c2,” I hear Mrs.Roberts tell the class. I listen intently to the entire lesson, writing detailed notes, making sure to include all examples. Later in the class when Mrs.Robert’s is done with the lesson, she passes back the homework. I take the crisp white paper and I walk out of the classroom, homework and lemon yellow notes binder in hand. Later that night, I begin the homework. The stress starts. Even with my notes and looking up book examples I still cannot complete more than half the assignment. I feel the tear roll down my cheek. This is an accurate description of the entirety of my freshman year in Honors Geometry class. Throughout middle school, I had …show more content…
I still spent scads of time on Geometry, but the puzzle pieces started to fit together. Homework slowly became easier. I could understand it better. I often looked at example problems that I found online which helped me understand the lesson. Spending time figuring out a complex problem on my own and fitting the pieces together helped me remember them better. I ,sadly, still had nights where Geometry consumed my whole night, which was not going to help me raise my other grades. I made sure to prioritize better. I would complete my assignments for my other classes first ,and then work on my Geometry. This allowed me to put effort into these classes as well as Geometry. I also would not allow myself to stay up past ten. If I wasn’t getting it, I would come into to school a bit early. Staying up half the night wasn’t going to help me improve my performance in class. I would study for test and quizzes in advance. As soon as I found out about the assessment I would study. While I studied every night I only studied for 20 minutes, which actually helped me remember the lessons better. By the end of the first semester I had brought my grade up to an 86% and I had brought my grades in my other classes up to A’s. I brought my GPA all the way up to a 4.07. I finally had a handle on my

I have been able to focus in a less distracting area than public school provides. Falling asleep or texting in class wasn’t an option, my teacher was always watching me to make sure I was listening. On top of my schoolwork at home, I also joined a co-op. A co-op (short for “cooperation”) is a group of homeschooling families who join together to learn from and with one another to enrich each child’s education. My co-op has challenged me with rigorous classes and forced me to learn how to set my own schedule.…

"Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty and persistence" I have had many ups and downs over the course of my life thus far. One specific example of this took place during my freshman year of high school. When I started high school it was very challenging for me, partially due to the fact that; during this time, I was lazy, unmotivated and did not really take school seriously. This by far is one of my biggest regrets to this day. Who would ever think that not trying during my freshman year would continue to follow me throughout the course of my academic career.…

In order to participate in extracurricular activities, students are obligated to maintain a specific overall grade in each of his/her classes. Therefore, students are required do well in school while keeping up with their extracurricular activities, which may lead to sleep deprivation. For instance, if multiple teachers assign homework on the same night, I will finish all of it, even if I have to stay up until midnight. I am not willing to go to school the next day and turn in something that is incomplete. As Bruni stated students, like myself, will “Lose a few winks but never a few…

In high school my most outstanding example of a time when I set an example as a student leader was my sophomore year in high school. My sophomore year of high school I was brought up to the varsity soccer team, the team that I was on was not extremely hard working and or dedicated. As a sophomore I was afraid to stand up and verbally tell the entire team that we need to step it up, or we are going to have a horrible season, so I decided to make my statement apparent by my actions. First, I started by always being the first one to every practice, putting pressure on my other teammates to do the same, in result everyone started to arrive to practice earlier. The second step I took was difficult since I was one of the youngest players and the…

The day of August 27, 2012 I was officially titled a freshman. One look down those unknown red and blue walls, will forever change my perspective of high school. There was an instant moment of disbelief in my freshman, I was terrified, and no thought came to mind as to how I was going to survive high school for the next four years. Of course I knew it'll be different from my tiny middle school, but will it be like the cliché movies about the upcoming of age, or resemble the happiest times of life. From that first day, I knew I wasn’t like everyone else.…

In the Spring of last year, it was my Junior year, one of the most critical years in high school. It’s the year that colleges look at the most, also it was the year that I was in some of the most challenging classes. Mostly honors, a lot of homework, and tests to go along with it. Studying would take me until late at night, and even on weekends, all day long. When it’s the end of the term everyone checks their grades for their report cards, and progress reports.…

My freshman year was one of my craziest school year. It came from fake hall passes, to skipping in the restroom, and acting all bad by getting referrals. I remember my ap secretary always used to call me “Diablo” just because i always got in trouble and she said i used to drive her crazy. I just never cared about the consequence of skipping so much, good thing I never got caught. Meeting new friends and new attitudes and a little more of responsibility and to be honest waking up so early every single morning was not that fun.…

When I thought of the first day of junior year I automatically thought of a good day. I thought of waking up extra earl, doing my hair and makeup and just having a great start to an amazing day. I remember my days in high school like it was yesterday. My freshman year I didn’t really know anyone at my school because I was new to the area. Once the school year got started I began to make friends and to be known around the school. So as most people say now I look like a basketball player, back in my younger days I used to play all sports like basketball, football, and baseball. So I had decided to try out for the basketball team.…

I did succeed in making my grades but by the last months of the semester I realize that the stress that came with procrastination wasn’t worth in ad I started working on time management. In high school the words time management are repeated but never really explains. I grew up hating the simple idea of time management, but I have since learned that is means balance. It is easy to think of staying in and doing nothing but studies, but true time management is the balancing the responsibilities you must complete and the things you want to do. This realization has taught me that I can have a “fun” college experience without forgetting the reason I am at a university.…
