Personal Narrative: My Folk's Cabin

“Where would you hide me?” she asked. Her anxiety was faltering, so she felt a little more confident.
“Did Jason ever talk about my folk’s cabin?” he asked and saw her nod her head with his peripheral vision. “It’s up in the Blue Ridge Mountains and it takes a few hours to get there. There should be no record of it here in South Salem. When my parent’s estate was sold, Ben bought it and had it transferred into my name when I got old enough. I helped him keep it up just in case we needed to hide someone for a time.” He paused for a moment and glanced at her again. “Jason loves it up there. I hope you will, too.”

The speaker from PreMedical Ms.Schnarre, I was not interested in any of the things that this major had to offer. I have never been interested in PreMedical. Will probably not want to pursue any kind of job in this of work. Even though the opportunities seem interesting, the money was with my interest. I walked through blurring snow and glistening flakes that were swirling around me up the hill to the old barn door in order to find shelter in the blizzard. I pushed open the door just enough to get through and entered the barn. There were fresh hay bales all over and I sat down on one and looked around examining my surroundings. I did a quick scan and nothing caught my attention at first, however, I scanned again and I saw what appeared to be an old antique chest in the far left corner of the barn. I walked over to it and saw what appeared to be a old lock on it that was hanging open.…

The Hunted I didn’t know who I was. I woke up next to a bunch of muddy kids. They all smelled like they haven't showered in weeks. There was two twins, a chubby kid, and probably the skinniest kid I’ve ever seen. Then I realized I smelled just like them.…

My six word memoir was “Fought through the labyrinth of solitude” because I wasn’t really alone physically because I had my family but none of them understood me or I couldn’t show them I true self, like who I really am. It wasn’t really easy to do because I felt insecure even though I shouldn’t feel that way. I stayed true to myself and I kept that in mind and it gave me the strength to push through. So mentally I was me but outside I was a totally different person that everybody expected me to be but even though I had some faith that that would end someday.…

There’s a little slice of Heaven in Marshall, Texas, where the sun shines through the pines and the sound of cicadas serenade you throughout your afternoon and the lake shines like a plate of polished silver in the early morning sun. When I first came to Camp Fern, I was on my own. Everyone else had known each other for at least two years, so I was the odd one out. In my cabin there was the usual sort. There was the popular one, the attention seeker, the joker, and the one you love to hate.…

There isn’t anything more breathtaking than going Up North. If you’re not from Michigan you might be wondering, “Where up north?” In Michigan we use “up north” as a term for the upper half of the mitten, I’d say from the top of the thumb up. The UP (Upper Peninsula) can be considered Up North but normally it's just the UP.…

I was 13 years old, just starting off high school, when I realized what this dark cloud that’s been floating over me for the past couple of months really is. It wouldn’t be until more than a year later until I seek out professional help. It started off innocently enough as just a feeling of constant emptiness at the pit of my stomach. It slowly turned into randoms bouts of extreme rage, where I’d take out my anger physically, not just on the walls and mirrors of my childhood home and not just on my family, but on myself. I couldn’t understand why I felt this way, why I wasn’t “normal”.…

As a young teenage boy, a highlight of my summer occurred at great-grandma's cabin. We called it such because great-grandpa long ago passed away, and only great-grandma was left. Going to great-grandma's cabin was commonly referred to as "going up North." Most referred to any trip away from the cities in Minnesota as going up North. Up North existed a plethora of lakes offering endless activities of summer fun.…

My grandpa, grandma and I made it to the cabin and ran out of the car, I got to the door a while before them. My grandma finally arrived at the door and unlocked it,I was so excited that, at first I didn't know what to do. Then I ran inside and glanced around, in 30 seconds I had surveyed the entire cabin, it turned out to be a little cabin, although still pretty cool. Large enough for the necessities and for a little leg room, very nicely sized. I went outside and took it all in, weeds, weeds, and, oh look, weeds over there too.…

When I had finally reached the river, I realized that I had navigated my way back down the hills that made up Mt. Harrison’s base slightly askew from the path that I’d taken on my trip up, and was now a lot closer to the walking bridge that I had elected not to use earlier when I’d chosen the downed oak tree to cross instead. Looking back behind me, I saw that the black cat had followed me through the forest and down the hillsides. But, as I crossed the bridge (which was only a few feet wide) I looked back to see if my feline friend was still with me but she was now nowhere in sight, having disappeared back into the woods again. I wanted to call out to her to see where she might have gone, but then I realized that I didn’t have a…
