Personal Narrative: My First Year In Middle School

Improved Essays
Well the biggest challenge that I have ever faced was my first year in middle school (6th Grade). My first day was very confused and uncertain of where i should go.I didn't know where any of my classes were and I definitely didn't know how to open my locker.Because of me having these issues for about a month I was tardy lots of times.I was just a little kid in a big school that wasn't used to the routine.

After the first nine weeks school started to get a little easier with making new friends and getting to my classes. But the one thing that was still bad was my grades.Basketball and friends got in the way of me being on top of my grades.I had lots of parent teacher meetings trying to figure out what can I do to get my grades better. The classes I was doing the worst in was English and Spanish.

By the second nine weeks I was doing good in all my other classes but I was averaging a D in my English class and I wasn't going to be able to play basketball until I averaged a C or higher.I tried so hard to get my English grade like my other classes.Almost every night I studied hard trying to make sure I get at least a C on my report card.I was so relieved when I got that C but I knew I could do better.

I wanted to make sure my last two nine weeks I would buckle down and get all my grades on track.I don't know what gets to me every school year since then it will always end up me doing my best at the end of the school year.Third nine weeks I had only A's B's and one C on my report card and that made feel very proud of myself doing that.

Fourth Nine weeks was SOL testing so we really didn't have any work to do.Which made it the easiest time of the year. I passed every SOL I took.Since I did that they let everybody who pass have a little field day just to reward us.On the last day I felt accomplished and relieved that I passed the toughest school year that I would probably ever

Needless to say my grades improved from this. I also began to be more interactive in my school by joining several clubs like Garland High School Marching M.O.B (Mighty Owl Band) and became more active in my community by volunteering to help local schools and soup kitchens such as Life Message. I 'm only young and in high school once so I decided to dedicate some time to making memories helping my school and local community. While it has been extremely difficult and has required extreme time management, I wouldn 't want to live my life any other way right…

A couple years ago when I was in 1st grade I started at a new school in Pasadena, California. The school was called Garvanza elementary. I liked living in California and having new friends at this school, but about half the school year my mother wanted to move to Arizona with my brother, sister and I. We didn't want to leave, but my mother said that she already got a house and a job over there. Even after we kept telling her that we didn't want to leave she made us pack everything and put it in the truck.…

I struggled with trusting others, time management and battling multiple tasks at once. Luckily, I had a lot of practice throughout the year. For instance when we had to record a News Show for Mr.Mora's class, I was faced with all of these problems.…

Graduation speech Juan C “Nothing is over until the moment you stop trying.”- Bryan Dyson Being Comfortable has been a real struggle for me these past years i’ve been here in holmes.6th grade for a 5th grader is scary, not knowing what is coming for you. 7th grade becomes easier because you already have an idea of how junior high is. 8th is all about reflecting over 6th and 7th grade. But it’s not always about problems, stress and sadness, there's also good times, like when we went to camp duncan in 6th grade, when I performed in the V-Show in 7th grade,…

Dear Brandi, do you remember when you were sitting at work one day listening to Kristy tell you all about how she is attending Bethel University online, and loved it? Do you remember how she told you she only had one class to focus on, that lasted five weeks, or how she only had to turn in an assignment every Sunday and Wednesday night? It seemed so doable to you, and you knew that sounded like the absolute best option for you to improve your life, and not end up being stuck as a debt collector forever. Clearly you were right. You’re now starting on the last week of your first class, and you’ve done great so far!…

Tulen Aidar (atulen2), ENGL 160 (38997) With completing the first few weeks in the ENGL 160 class, I was able to benefit from a variety of new things from the class. My expectation about this class was that during the whole semester we will study grammar and structure of academic essays, as well as writing a large number of essays inside the class. However, I was pleasantly surprised, because we began to read interesting article and discuss it and in the end write summary about it. The most challenging for me was the amount of homework.…
