Personal Narrative: My First Week In High School

It was a Thursday night, on my first week of kindergarten. I hadn’t made many friends because I was so use to playing with my sister, that I wasn’t sure if I knew how to make friends. I wasn’t shy when I was around my immediate family, but if you would put me in a room with people that I didn’t know. Well, I wouldn’t say a word. I would be so quiet that I would just sit there and you could forget that I was in the room. I was up running through all my stuff that I would have to be doing for my first ever cheerleading tryouts. I was so nervous, and it wasn’t even actually happening yet. I was set in a cycle of doing my dance, then cheer, then the chant, and finishing up with jumps because that was the order that they said we were going do it. I was determined to perform everything perfectly. Eventually, my mom made me come and eat dinner and as soon as I was done eating, I …show more content…
I could hardly concentrate, I mean eve less than a kindergartener usually does. When the school day ended, after what felt like forever, I went home to get ready. I put on my black shorts and solid white shirt like they told us to wear and began to practice just a little bit more. Then my mom told me that it was time to leave so I grabbed my bag that had my water and little snack in it, and went out to the car. On the way over I could feel the nervousness growing like a ball in my stomach. I was continually running through the routine is my head and stressing more with each passing second on how good I would do. Once we got there, I walked through the big double doors into the gym and put my stuff down at the front of the gym. You could tell which girls had cheered before because they were all calm and relaxed like they knew everything perfectly, which only add more to the panic attack that was happening inside

My first week of high school was pretty good. I like all of my teachers, and my classes are in a good order. It was difficult waking up early on the first day because prior to then, the earliest I had woken up during the summer was 8:00. I got lost going to FACS on the first day, and then again on the second day. I found my regular classes easily enough, and I haven’t gotten any tardies.…

Last semester was definitely the hardest for me. I have two challenging research papers toward the end of the semester. I find it hard because I did not know what to write about and which assignments I should start on first. I manage to overcome this challenge by narrowing the topics and start on the paper that was closest to deadline. My stress level was at 10 because I skip meals and stayed up all night long to finish my papers.…

As I went to my first day of school in a new city I was nervous, I didn't know if I was going to make any new friends, if I was going to fit in. The first day began and I immediately met Randy and Byanca, little did I know at the time that they would be my friends for all of my school career. Time went by and so did the grade levels, I would always struggle with one subject and thrive in another. During my elementary and middle school years I would struggle in language arts and history, but I would thrive in mathematics mainly because I love numbers.…

Short shorts. Short shorts as far as the eye can see. This is what I saw all over ETSU’s beautiful campus as I went one day without my cell phone. Initially, I thought nothing much would come out of the seemingly uninteresting assignment, but I was mistaken. It proved to be an eye-opening day, mostly because I saw how much students were on their phones, I learned that I am terrible at telling time, and I can now cope with my social anxiety instead of jumping to my phone.…

The first time I met Ally was in the lunchroom. Naive sixth graders don’t know where to sit; they just plop their bodies with the first people they see so that’s exactly what I did with her during the first week of middle school. Through the course of the three years in middle school, I’ve definitely had my ups and downs with her- numerous times we’ve fought and forgave, and although she left KIS last year, I still keep in touch with her over Skype and Snapchat. It’s been four years since my first impression of her, and of course, she has matured, but the image of her “jagalchi hair” bobbing up and down, looking wide-eyed is still, to this day, engraved in my brain as what defines Ally. What surprised me was that the young, innocent girl that…

I’d been through this before, but all I wanted to do was go home. There was a possibility of things I could do wrong. I could forget my dance, bomb my tumbling, or maybe not even make the cheer team. As I pulled up to the Pottsville High School, all the worries in my head got worse. I could not perform in front of these judges without messing up.…

From elementary school, middle school, and part of high school I had always been the kid that was so quiet. Certainly, I was comfortable around my family but being around strangers made me nervous and scared. Throughout my school years, not including high school, I probably only made three friends. As I grew older things started to change and it was not until I landed my first job that I began to be social. Even though I was a shy person throughout most of my life and I had no work experience, my first job led me to discover a personality I never thought I would uncover.…

It was the first week of class at University of North Carolina. I was already in college and attending one of my first freshman classes in a large auditorium. I remember that the college was UNC in particular because some people were wearing shirts and sweaters from the bookstore. It was dark outside even though the sun should have been out since I was going to class and doing things that I would normally always do during the day. There were lots of different characters in my dream, most of them were in my class.…
