Personal Narrative: My First Vietnam War

“Before I was born everything was normal or I was told everything was normal. My parents would hold me in their arms as shopped for groceries. We were happy, we had freedom. All of this ended to soon when entertainment became dull and rare. The rich were the entertainment but they wanted freedom. No one would step up and take their spot, so they became angry. And their anger only grew. It all started with a massacre. Booms and bangs were all around, screams of the injured people were all you could hear, herds of people ran threw the streets hoping for safety. It was awful , I thought it could never get worse but somehow it did.
This one sided war went on for three years but I remember this one day perfectly; the death of my parents. My parents were well known for their talents

The other men moved at his order surrounding us. Hot tears burned my cheeks as I wailed in fear; I stood behind Papa for protection but it wasn’t me who needed protection. I let go of Papa and I ran but as soon as I ran I heard that unpleasant sound: bang! Bang! Followed by the loud bangs, I heard Papa hit the ground. All the emotions in my head was to much for my small three year old body.
I continued running even though my heart was broken but apparently it wasn’t broken enough. I ran right into the main street where my Mama was going to be executed for disobeying the government. What was so wrong about not wanting to be controlled, it’s only natural to want freedom. Knees to the ground, facing death, she cried ,’I love you’. Bang! The bullet pierced her head as it did my soul.’’
Ting! The trash can top fell to the ground and I knew we were being watched. Crap! It’s the Drug Lords. Heather and I immediately got up and ran. Bang! The gun sounded as it flew through heather's back. She may not have been my mother but I will mourn her. I was able to hid behind a couple of trash cans but I wasn’t fast enough. The Government employees captured
