Personal Narrative: My First Tennis Team

It was a hot, humid day in September out on the courts that day. Standing there, poised and ready on the green asphalt, I sprang into action, like a cobra ready to strike, nearly tripping over my foot, and execute a nearly perfect slicing forehand swing of my racket, returning the bright green tennis ball to the far right-hand corner of the court. It happened so fast that my opponent, who was sweating just as much as myself, wasn't able to process that I earned the winning point after a long, drawn-out match. I couldn't believe I just won my first tennis match. “I knew you were gonna be good at this Brianna!” shouts Coach Womack as he gave me an exuberant high-five. I was so excited. Starting off at Oak Ridge High School in my Freshman year, I decided to try out for the tennis team. I wasn't as experienced as the others since they'd been playing it for a while, but Coach Womack decided to give me a chance to learn. So I went ahead and joined. I mean, why not? He's a quirky, silly guy from the Philippines, and he immediately made me feel welcome. Since we became friends so quickly, I trailed after him like a puppy, making him introduce me to all of his friends at lunch, who consequently became my friends as well! Weirdly enough his older brother played on the tennis team as well, and I feel like this is one of many things we have in common. He inspired me to do my best on the team, and although he may not admit it, there were a few times I managed to beat him. Surprisingly enough, after my move to Conroe High, he's remained by my side to lend a helping hand now and then, giving me advice with my relationship that's going on almost two years now, and helping me out with schoolwork if I need it. He's the best friend I could ever ask for, and with him and the team supporting me, I felt as though I could do
