My First Successful Hunting Season

It was late October of 2014 when I went hunting with my closest cousin, Chase. I’ve know Chase & his little brother since I was 3 but when I moved to Michigan we became close. The way I would describe Chase is he’s very smart, he is tall, & he has brown hair & brown eyes. He is 16 & wore a denim levi’s jacket, & a bright orange hunting beanie. The week before we went up north, Chase texted me, “Tony, ask your dad if you could come up north this weekend with Ryan & my Dad” I replied to him, “Alright I’ll ask my dad.” It just was an offer I couldn’t refuse, only because the last time Chase was there he scored an 8 pt. buck. All that week I was thinking about the good times that I would have while hanging out with my fam. After the long 4 hour drive from

I reached for the gun & when I picked it up it knocked against my chair making a “TINGG!” sound, which spooked them. When Chase set the gun back against the wall, I was convinced the deer would’ve ran off into the woods, one of the biggest doe’s stops curiously in a perfect opening in the woods where only I could see it because of the angle I was in. I picked up the gun because I knew that this was my only time to shine, like gucci.
I whispered to Chase “I can see it perfectly, I’m gonna make a shot.” I focused really hard on the doe. I aimed about an inch in a half behind & below the shoulder. I squeezed the gun with my whole trigger hand. (they tell you to do that because when you expect the gun the fire you will most likely flinch, which is how I missed my first shot attempt my first year.) 3…2….1….bang. I saw the deer drop in its tracks. All the excitement bursted out of me, I had no idea how to say what was on my mind. What Chase tells me is that I just said “I got em!... I got em!” as I mindlessly gazed at the

Then all I have for sound going through my ears were a big buck coming thru the brush. I take the shot and hit it. The reason that my shot actually hit is because my dad taught me how to hunt. My worst experience occurred on October 11th, 2015 during the youth hunt. It was my first time being able to shoot the deer while shooting. It was Sunday, after a full day of seeing a lot of does and 0 bucks. We hunted the morning and didn’t see anything, so we went back to the cabin for lunch. After laying around for awhile I told my dad it was time to go back out to the stand.…

The Adrenaline that a hunter feels being in the top of a tree stand waiting for the perfect deer to hunt is absolutely incredible, however hunters are not always lucky enough to find their prey. My dad and I began going around the ranch a day before we went hunting, we looked around to see where the biggest deer’s were located. We tested and align the rifles, to leave everything prepared to go hunting the following day at dawn. We were very positive that we were going to be lucky enough to hunt a big trophy deer, tough the results we had were never crossed our minds.…

My First Deer One brisk 30 degree day in January, when I was nine years old, was a day for which I was extremely excited. My dad got me out of school earlier that day, so we could go deer hunting. I had already shot a turkey the year before, so guns were nothing new to me. We made a quick stop at my house so that we could pick up the .243 youth edition, a really short barreled .243, that my dad had bought just about a month before so that we could go hunting, and I would actually be able to handle the gun. At this point we did not have the hunting land that we do today, so we went to my grandpa’s house and hunted in the clearing of trees behind his house.…
