It may usually be put somewhere that it can be seen at all times or put away for some reason. It is the type of certain object that can instantly make someone stop what they are doing and have them sit and relive the memory over and over again in their head wishing they could experience it all over again. Who would not want to have something to approach when they might be feeling down and are in need of some relief? Every Sunday a group of friends from around the neighborhood would get together and play a match at the park down the street, it was convenient for most of us since we lived so close to the park. We would talk about how it would be if there was a stadium close by so we could go watch games. I remember there was an occasion where my neighbor Victor had invited some of his cousins to come join us and they just so happen to know what it was like to attend a professional soccer game, it took place in Mexico city where two of the biggest teams in all of the Mexican first division league faced off they were Club America against Guadalajara. The more it was talked about and fantasized the more it made me curious. I remember watching games on the weekends and getting together with others to watch big games and tournaments, I still do to this very day. Seeing the excitement and passion being let out just by watching a game on television made me wonder what it would feel like in an actual live game. It got to the point where while watching a game I would focus more on those who were at the game and everything else going on, for example, their reactions to things like celebrations or frustrations. Most of my family had at least been to one professional soccer game in their life time since they lived

From the time I was six years old, soccer consumed my life. I started at a recreational level, advanced to a competitive division, and eventually on to high school. “Hi Malcolm, I’m Coach Spear, and I’d like you to consider playing soccer at Davidson.” I had played the “beautiful” game of soccer for as long as I could remember, starting in an organized league at the age of three to be exact. An invitation to play as a team member in a highly regarded college soccer program was the culmination of hundreds of league games, dozens of travel tournaments, and too many practices to count. The idea of attending such a prestigious college and having the opportunity to continue to play soccer is a personal accomplishment was very exciting to me. Soccer may have opened a door, but I believe that several interests in addition to soccer, combined with the educational opportunities that Davidson has to offer, will help me open many doors throughout life, shaping a personal identity that will be unique among many.…

But in sixth grade our neighborhood was full of Latinos that loved soccer, so that is how I started to become more passionate about it. Our neighborhood did not have a nice field. It didn't have goals or markings, it was pretty much dirt and grass.…

As I walk onto the football field for the first game of the season I feel the cool air rise up my spine. I feel the energy from my team as we form together as one, we stand in the corner of the field ready to run out. Our helmets give off a brand new polish since we haven’t used them that much, they shine in the light giving us a bright glisten of navy blue and white. We huddle around and form a circle, our captains start a chant and we follow. When the announcer announces us we storm onto the field breaking the sign, when I take my first couple steps onto the turf I can feel the individual pieces of rubber start to form around my cleat, it feels like a tempur pedic bed the way my cleats sink in, as I walk onto that field for my first Junior…

The roar of the engine sends my heart racing as I pull out on to the track, one lap around and we are off, trucks at my side as we glide around the turns. The slick dirt pulling my back end around I move my hands, my automatic controls, the only thing keeping me from spinning out. It’s funny really because clichés aren’t my thing, however, at times idioms are just the thing to describe a situation or time period in one’s life, for instance the saying that “life is a roller coaster” couldn’t be more fitting for my life. The ups and downs, the highs and the lows, the twists and turns, life is just one big adrenaline rush and at times I feel I’m a junking, addicted to life.…
