When working in the classroom on group projects, oftentimes a group leader isn't officially designated, but I will usually volunteer to help divide up the project's tasks and ensure that everybody stays on track; and although I will…
As a child growing up in Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union, the idea of a vast planet brimming with civilization and culture was more like something out of a fairy tale than it was reality. So, when my father announced that we would be leaving the country to go to Scotland, the home of his and my ancestors, my world began to expand at a rapid pace. This trip could not have been timed more perfectly. The summer of 2007 marked the end of fourth grade, my first year at Saint Mary Academy Bay View.…
Sullivan (2013) discusses the roles of group members in chapter 11. A role according to Sullivan (2013) a role “is a set of expected behaviors that fit together into a unified whole and are characteristic of persons in a given context” (p.148). Many different roles are included in a group often people fill several roles. Their roles may change depending on their setting and what type of meeting they are attending. In meetings at work I have not led a meeting for some time.…
Building rapport with my supervisee started from the beginning of the session and that really set a good tone for the remainder of the session. I started the session by asking Chris how things were going and what he wanted to discuss. By doing this, I feel that it showed I was interested in what he wanted to talk about and let him lead the session. Being able to establish that early on really helped in the simulation going smoothly. I feel that I was really in tune with the role of a supportive supervisor.…
“Alright now Skin, I need you to be my leadoff here and get a rally going!” I do not respond, because I obviously know how important this one at bat is for the team and for myself. One thing coach loves doing, making sure I know how much I am accountable for. There is no comment to explain to me of how dependent I am on these upcoming moments for the team, so don’t make it any worse. To start off and to have the power to set the tone of the whole inning.…

Define the term debriefing and it's importance as it relates to health care simulation. According to Meakim et al. (2013), debriefing, also referred to as guided reflection, is as a planned activity conducted by a qualified facilitator that occurs after a simulated-based learning experience.…
The Simulation Xavier woke up in the middle of the night. It was dark outside, and only the white full moon was illuminating the streets of the city. The boy looked around himself. All the colors in his room seemed blurred and he felt like they were mixing together. Even though , he was feeling an indescribable lightness, his eyes felt very heavy.…
I have done similar work in the past. My eighth grade year was when I learned about “Creating a System or Two”. I was ecstatic when hearing about it, but when I saw examples of it, I knew deep down inside that I would not master this objective. I was seemingly right. For my standards, they were fairly low.…
There was a boy named Liam Wilson. He lives in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He is as normal as normal gets. He wakes up, goes to school, comes back home, and goes to bed. There is nothing “supernatural” about that, right?…
Last night my dog bit me! My dad about shot him in the head with a shotgun, but I told him not to because that Bruiser, my dog, is too stupid to know what he did. He still wanted to shoot him in the face so I stood in front of Bruiser and told my dad to lower his weapon. I knew he would because I’m his baby girl and I can get anything I want, but I don’t do that because then I would be a spoiled brat and no one wants that.…
A few years ago I remember walking home from school. Mind you I thought I was very handsome back in those days, I had soft, dark brown hair, I went to the gym every day, I was fit and healthy, personally I thought I was a ladies man and I still am (I think). Anyways, I was almost home…
I woke up extra early this morning, because I knew I had to hike down and get water. Once I was up, I got all my stuff ready. As usual I was one of the first people ready. Being a morning person definitely came in handy on this backpacking trip.…
When I was twelve years old, I went to the fair in another city. There were numerous recreational facilities, and the most memorable one, which later become myfavorite, was the Drop. In truth, I was scared when I first decided to go on it because the drop felt like a free fall. When I got to the top , I was wondering why I had forced myself to do this extreme game. This reflects a conflict I often have between my thoughts and my ambitions Often there is something I want to do, but I give up because of cowardice.…
Background Before undertaking the Investopedia simulation, my investment knowledge and in particular my stock market knowledge was limited. Throughout high school I gained preliminary understanding of the purpose of investing and as I received my first paycheques my family encouraged me to save to buy Canada Savings Bonds when they became available. Additionally, this past summer I became familiar with my RESP account as I gained access to put towards funding my education. The stock market was an entirely new concept with new terminology, strategy and monitoring requirements. Although, through my accounting course in high school I was introduced to the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX), and understood earnings per share and the ability to purchase and…
