College has been a huge eye opener for me. Going into college, you expect it to be a certain way, but for me, I learned that it is a lot different than what I expected. My first semester of college really was something else. I have some memories that I will never forget, but I also have some experiences that I can learn from. Being a pre-nursing student comes with its challenges, but I found a couple ways that ease all of your emotions during the semester. Since I have learned a lot of things my first semester, I am going to apply them to the rest of my semesters in college. I plan to set goals for the spring semester and have a plan for how I am going to achieve them. My first semester of college was something I think I will remember for …show more content…
I learned many things about nursing in my introduction to professional nursing class. I learned that it is more than just a career. It is a lifelong commitment to service of others. Your personal identity will always be a nurse. You will have family members or friends coming up to you and asking you about different types of health questions for the rest of your life. Nurses get to save lives, and I think that is the biggest reward you can get. I can’t wait until I get to be a nurse and experience all of the benefits from it. I did learn a lot about nursing, but I also learned a lot about college in general. Going into college, you have a basic idea of what you think it is going to be like, but for me, it turned out to be a lot different. I expected college to be a scary part of my life that was going to be hard to adjust to, but I felt like it was the exact opposite. Kent State helps you make your transition to college as easy as possible. I thought my classes in college were going to be impossible. That was one of the things that scared me the most. Since I went to a small high school, I wasn’t sure if I was prepared correctly to excel in a college environment. It turned out that it isn’t as bad as you think its going to be as long as you try your best and put the work in to succeed. For some people college might not be what they expected, but for some it might. I …show more content…
My first goal is to do well academically. I am going to achieve this by studying and trying my best. I am going to study how I did the first semester since it seemed to work for me. I am going to give myself breaks to ensure that I am not thinking about school 24/7. My second goal is to get more involved around campus. Even though I am in a couple clubs, they all involve nursing. To achieve this, I am going to join different groups that have nothing to do with nursing. I was maybe thinking about joining an intermural softball team or CHAARG. By doing this, I think that I will meet many new people and hopefully gain friendships. Another goal I have is to attend more on campus activities. Even though I did attend a lot of them, I want to attend more in the spring. I want to attend all the spring sports, and different concerts and activities that they have every week. I want to continue to go out of my comfort zone and make more friendships the spring semester. My last goal is to get into the nursing program. Since I apply next semester, it is going to be my main focus. Even though I want to achieve the other goals, this goal is the most important. I am going to try to achieve this by studying a lot and trying to get the best grades

It has taken me quite a while to decide upon a major, but when I started looking into nursing, it was like everything just clicked. There have been many factors that led to this decision. The biggest one of all is my mother’s last pregnancy. Towards the end of her third trimester, she started having difficulties especially with her blood pressure. I remember being with her in the hospital and watching as a doctor and a couple of nurses fluttered in and out of her room.…

The day of August 27, 2012 I was officially titled a freshman. One look down those unknown red and blue walls, will forever change my perspective of high school. There was an instant moment of disbelief in my freshman, I was terrified, and no thought came to mind as to how I was going to survive high school for the next four years. Of course I knew it'll be different from my tiny middle school, but will it be like the cliché movies about the upcoming of age, or resemble the happiest times of life. From that first day, I knew I wasn’t like everyone else.…

Keeping my three personal and professional goals realistic, I would have to say a personal goal is to finish school at SNHU with a 3.0 GPA or above. I think a way for me to accomplish this goal is to stay focused on the tasks at hand, maintain a good relationship with my advisors and to utilize some of the tutoring options that are available to me as a student. Another personal goal is to work on myself, mentally. I cannot be a good mom or wife when I have the stress, anxiety and depression that I do. A way to help accomplish this goal is to not only start speaking with a psychiatrist (first appointment is August 4th) but to also have my thyroid checked.…
