My first semester of college has been very “challenging”. The goals I put out for myself have not been easy to achieve. There are specifically three topics that have been the most influential in my first semester at FSW. First, time management, this has been a huge topic I’m continuously working on to achieve my goals. Secondly, good organization, learning how to be organized is a huge part of my successes. Last but not least, financial awareness, which has been difficult to stick to. Learning about these three things during my SLS class experience has had a positive impact in my life. Learning how to manage my time has been very difficult for me. I just came straight from high school, which is nothing like college. College requires me to be very strict with my time, specially since I work almost a full time. I work thirty four hours during the week and go to school full time. Managing my time is very critical since I don’t have much of it. For example, after coming home from work, all I would like to do is shower and go to sleep, but instead I have to study and do homework. Another thing is having a “social life”. It is very complicated when going to school and working. There’s not much time for parties, etc… For me, balancing all these things seemed impossible. I’ve been working very hard toward achieving my goal, …show more content…
Now, it is extremely important for me to do that. I have to balance work and school and everything else going on in my life. Everything has to be organized in order to achieve my goals. God, school and work are my priorities. I’ve always been the kind of person to say “just go with it”, but that has changed. Making a to-do list has been working for me so far. It helps me keep everything organized for the day. Also having a planner where I keep all my important due dates has helped me a lot. Organizing my life has made me a better

"Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty and persistence" I have had many ups and downs over the course of my life thus far. One specific example of this took place during my freshman year of high school. When I started high school it was very challenging for me, partially due to the fact that; during this time, I was lazy, unmotivated and did not really take school seriously. This by far is one of my biggest regrets to this day. Who would ever think that not trying during my freshman year would continue to follow me throughout the course of my academic career.…

My first week of high school was pretty good. I like all of my teachers, and my classes are in a good order. It was difficult waking up early on the first day because prior to then, the earliest I had woken up during the summer was 8:00. I got lost going to FACS on the first day, and then again on the second day. I found my regular classes easily enough, and I haven’t gotten any tardies.…

It was a Thursday night, on my first week of kindergarten. I hadn’t made many friends because I was so use to playing with my sister, that I wasn’t sure if I knew how to make friends. I wasn’t shy when I was around my immediate family, but if you would put me in a room with people that I didn’t know. Well, I wouldn’t say a word. I would be so quiet that I would just sit there and you could forget that I was in the room.…

Now that additional time has been freed up from the work day it is important to do the same with family responsibilities. Jim Rohn once said, “Either you run the day, or the day runs you.” And that really is what it is like being a full-time employee, full-time mom, and a part-time student. Some days I am on top of my game and juggling as well as a jester. Other days my many daily tasks drag me around like a rag doll.…

Throughout my first semester at Miami University, I’ve learned to become more independent, through most of the daily responsibilities that I hold.…

Some examples of being organized are downloading the CTU App on your phone to help remind of you of important dates for assignments, and testing. Unfortunately four hours is not enough free time to be able to manage being a father, husband, student, and find time to be social. A plus and minus for me is cutting back on the amount of time I sleep from eight to about five to six hours on average daily. By doing so I could gain an additional 14 hours per week. This is where good time management skills come into to play to be able to help distribute hours…

At the same time I feel as if my school work load is so high I can never get ahead or feel on top of all my responsibilities in life. My first semester of graduate school had been rough, but I made it through and was very proud I had. However, throughout my first semester I had deeply cut my social relationship time with my partner and my friends, stopped going to the gym entirely, and lost the majority of my weekends to educational reading and assignments. I learned I needed to prepare and organize my time even more efficiently than I already did. For the second semester I sat down with my partner and planned out every single week from the food we were going to eat, events we were going to attend, dates we were going to go on, and workouts we were going to take part in.…
