Personal Narrative: My First Rockets

Improved Essays
It was a blistering, cold evening as my dad and I neared the arena, and rows of cars blocked the streets as thousands of Rockets fans crowded into the parking garage. My first Rockets game was nearing tipp-off, and I was bursting with excitement as my dad and I piled out of his gold colored Nissan Titan. Wearing my white Tracy McGrady jersey that went down to my knees and blue jeans, and having my Rockets banner in hand, we walked down multiple flights of stairs to the bottom of the concrete structure.
I still couldn’t believe I had won these tickets by just reading books and taking quizzes over the events of the books. I just wanted to read the books for the fun of reading the story within them. I was pleasantly surprised when I came into

We sat down in an open pair of seats we assumed were ours, until the real owner claimed his seats and evicted us, causing us to scramble for our seats. Finally, we found our seats. Looking up onto the walls as we sat down, I marveled at the rafters where championship banners and retired numbers hung. There was a great pre-game show, but finally Rockets vs. Lakers was coming up, and Kobe vs. McGrady was ready to commence. The lights in the arena dimmed as the announcer in his thunderous voice roared “Tracy McGrady” as McGrady made his way off the Rockets team bench. Finally tip-off began, and scoring dominated the game with one basket after another made. I jumped and yelled “Go Rockets,” cheering the team on as they began to outscore the Lakers. I enjoyed every minute of being with my dad since we got to enjoy each other’s company while enjoying a great basketball game. The game roared on as my dad and I continued to cheer and high five after every amazing shot made. Even through all the madness of the game and my desire to go see the team play, all I really wanted to do was have fun and bond with my dad. As the final seconds ticked off and a piercing buzzer sounded throughout the Toyota Center. A familiar voice gleefully announced the Rockets had won. My dad and I began to hug and then high five random fans sitting around us. I had enjoyed the game, and I enjoyed the win. I was relieved that the game was over and the Rockets had won. However, I was disappointed that our bonding time was over and we would have to return

Standing on the stage, victoriously, LeBron James hoisted up the Larry O’Brien trophy for winning the NBA Finals after a long, stressful season. Ever since first following the sport when I was a little kid, LeBron has been of the best and most influential superstars in the league. In 2003, LeBron was drafted straight out of high school by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the first overall pick. Almost immediately, he was an impact player, winning rookie of the year as the first of many awards and accomplishments. In 2010, he joined my hometown team, the Miami Heat, where he won his first two NBA Finals Championships, the most coveted of all accomplishments.…

Standing there on the street, I stood staring up to a hundred giant football players walking by me. As I held the rope that the football players walked through, I stretched out my hand to try and high five as many of them as I could. One… two…three…twenty-seven…twenty-eight…twenty-nine! Each one of them pranced by while the drum line marched them on to the beat of the fight song. Standing there looking up at the enormous football players, I avidly wondered what it would be like to walk through this crowd to go play at Highlander Stadium.…

I'm going to tell you about the time I totaled my first truck. It was not a fun experience all the questions and talking to the cops it was not fun. Anyways how it happens is pretty simple I was just driving home from work all is well. This was one of the worst games of my life I thought. Coach Jim Good thought otherwise so he thought that's was being self centered and not caring that the team won because of my attitude was toward the wrong thing after a win. After having that type of game I went to tall Jim Good that I was going to the heat game instead of the championship game and he was pissed. All he could say was “wow you are picking heat game over the championship game. Then I had my mom talk to him and things didn't go as planned because he was saying things out of anger.…

Missiles could be seen in the distance exploding villages nearby, shots were fired followed by screams of terror and pain. Villages were found in pieces, and the dead left lying on the muddied, dirt ground. Survivors running for their life in tattered and soiled clothes. Nights were spent in the cold, without food, the fear of being killed, and no place that one can call safe. It was in the year of 1975, when the Khmer Rouge had finally taken over Cambodia.…

I have always lived my life to the point where I could never be described with the words ‘midlife crisis’. I drove my first car at the age of two, trapezed at the age of seven, zip-lined at nine, and now at 18, I can say I’ve skydived. As cliché as it sounds, making the most out of life is ask I’ve really asked myself to do. Senior year was coming into a close, and me, being myself could not possibly let senior year pass me by as a simple toss of an overpriced cap and a few soppy hugs. At the time skydiving was at the top of my bucket list.…

At some point in every person's life, they will have a special experience that will stick with them forever. One of my most memorable moments happened recently at a home volleyball game against Traverse City West. Approaching freshman volleyball season, the upperclassman spoke highly of the importance of overpowering TC West. As a ninth grader, I had the mindset that I would be playing for the freshmen team. I didn't think it really mattered what the outcome of the game would be, since we were only ninth graders.…
