Five years later I am still working for the same company, and I could not be happier. My role has significantly expanded. Not only I am doing database programming - I am also overseeing production, performing data analysis, and preparing data for building predictive models. Recently I have been promoted to a technical lead. I am grateful for this amazing opportunity but it comes with great responsibility. Being a team leader is new to me. I expect it to be a steep learning curve but I am more than thrilled about it.
The past few years have prepared me well for the new role. I have mastered writing complex queries, got the hang of analyzing execution plans, building and maintaining databases, and automated multiple processes. I have interacted with clients on the daily basis. That allowed me to see the big picture - their business operations, how the services our company provides helps their bottom line, and the importance of data.
