My very first organized basketball game, three years ago, I was a scared, nervous, and excited mess. Wait, let's backtrack to weeks before the game. The level of anticipation among my team for the first game was sky-high. Our team, Purdue, hadn't known each other at all before we were grouped together. People coming from a different planet would think every day things we do in life are weird. What we have adapted to and think are normal look very weird to others who haven’t seen people doing things like this. Such as someone who has never shaved before would think that is very odd to shave your beard. Or someone who has never seen a drive threw would think it’s weird to have people have food handed out the window. As we think other cultures are weird we have to look at the fact that our culture is weird to others People that have never seen basketball would thing it is a bunch of people running around with a ball.…

Like all children all I ever wanted was to be big and do big people things. I engaged in a few family members that I would look up to and try everything they did. I use to pretend to go grocery shopping and being a parent at times. At the age of eight, I had worn the worst pain ever and that was watching my five, year old brother getting hit by a car while trying to cross the street riding a bicycle that had a loose chain. I remember him trying to get up and get to me, but a few adults that had witnessed the accident had told him to lay down.…

This is where the story begins.…

A nail bitter, teeth clincher, bone shaker. This game was everything you want when you take the family out for an evening of high school basketball. The Falcons and The Stallions battled tick for tac down to the very last second, but there could only be one winner. The first quarter was a bit sloppy, a lot of missed baskets, a lot of fouls, and plenty of turnovers, no one had gone on a stretch, after the first quarter the score was Green Run 10 Cox 9.…

One of my greatest assets is dedication. While I was not the best basketball player on my high school team, I worked constantly to perfect my jump shot. Throughout my high school basketball career, I have met with my coach three days per week for one-on-one workouts to perfect my ball handling and shooting form. I wanted to be a much better basketball player, and was willing to put the work in to improve my game every day. I made the Varsity basketball team as a freshman, but didn't see the court at all.…

It was my senior year of basketball and it was just getting started. This was it, my final year where we were going to win State and I was going to get a college scholarship. I had prepared all summer and in the preseason, nothing was going to get in my way. Our team was smaller this year and lacked the skill we had in the previous years, but that just meant I was going to have to step up even more. I was totally ready for the season and whatever challenges we would face as a team.…
