Personal Narrative: My First Nutcracker

Improved Essays
On my first Nutcracker when I was four years old my grandparents asked me when I would get over Nutcracker, and I told them when I got casted as Clara. Little did I know that I would have the amazing opportunity nine years later. My ballet studio released casting for our seasonal nutcracker recently, and I couldn’t wait for the day to come. My friends and I had an hour wait while our parents went to a meeting for performance information. While Hayley, Ryan, and I waited we decided to go to dinner. Ryan drove us to get burgers and talk about what we might want to be casted as. I shared with them that I wanted to be casted as the lead, Clara, and they told me they thought I would be perfect for it. I was so excited to hear that my friends believed …show more content…
Luckily because my name is Chloe I could get my letter sooner than most girls. One of the actors in our party scene started reading off names. After a few of the younger girls were called, one of my closest friends Amanda’s name was called. She was standing directly next to me, and she quickly opened the letter and read off her part, Clara. I was very happy for her and gave her a huge hug, but all I could think about was how nervous I was to see if I would get the other cast. By that point my name was being called, and I quickly grabbed the letter, my hands shaking so much i could barely hold it. I opened the letter and and read my part. I got the role of clara, and at the moment it felt like all my hard work was worth it.
Right after I read it I turned to Amanda, and we screamed and hugged. She congratulated me, and I told her how excited I was to share this role with her. Once I was done I ran over to my mom, and told her the news, and she was so proud of me. We talked about who we were going to invite to the show, and how much fun it was going to be. On our way out of the studio we stopped by everyone and talked about their roles. I was really surprised at what some of my friends got, and I was really happy for all of

I believed what others said and that caused to date the biggest regret I have. The part was given to another girl who was in the program and I acted like it did not bother me. My family did not end up moving, so I would have been able to do the play. That is what leaves a sour taste in my mouth that I could have successfully played the part, and executed the role better then the other girl who’s singing voice was not as powerful as mine. I did learn from this experience that I should go for the things I wish to and not to let my suggestion or others hold me back.…

Think about the typical 80's "coming of age" movie set in high school. It opens by introducing the audience to the main character, usually not the most handsome, most popular or athletic teenager. He sees the most beautiful girl in the school and wishes he could be with her. Long story short, he gets the girl, loses the girl and some friends, gets friends back after much ridicule, and rides into the sunset with the girl. Well that’s how my story goes… sort of.…

Kristina Snyder Ms. Maylett Honors Freshmen English/Period 7 8 October 2015 Graceful Growth When my teacher Ms. Erin first pulled me aside after class to tell me I would be Clara in The Nutcracker, squealing with joy, I grinned from ear to ear, hardly able to contain my excitement. I can still remember learning and practicing all the complicated steps, buying my own glittery nutcracker to use for the performances, and getting fit for the baby pink costume and soft, chiffon, white dress. Tiptoeing backstage as I warmed up, the warmth of the lights hugging my skin, and the glimmer of my white nightgown, these performances gave me memories as everlasting as the ocean’s tides. That weekend only one thing held me back, the pain of sharp needles…

At my old school in 10th grade I was in theatre, then the following year I was bullied out, and I desperately missed theatre. It was my life, I enjoy it so much and it is such a part of me. So coming here and deciding to audition on just the second day of school was a really big deal for me. At a younger age, I would say I believed that I can only trust myself and my mother, this is because as a little kid my mom would always tell me that there are bad people in the world and that giving them any information about anything can be very harmful. But as I grew up and realized what was actually happening in my country I knew there were millions of others that were suffering against the “bad people” and we could only do something about it if the whole community came together to help. It was at that time when I was about 25, when I started to put some effort into trying to establish more just conditions within my country especially after the implication of extremely high food prices. This is when I started my first strike involving my…
