On August 3, 2013, my dad came in my room to wake me up at 5 o’clock in the morning to get ready for my first mission trip. I was so tired I didn’t know what was going on at that point. Then, it all started coming to me, we were getting ready for our mission trip. So when I got out of my bed, my next priority was to take a shower, brush my teeth, and fix my hair. Then, I ran to my bedroom to get dressed and finish packing my suitcase. Racing down the stairs with my suitcase, I waited for the rest of my family to join me. When we were all ready, we went out the door, into the car, and headed towards the church to meet with everyone else who was going on the trip. Pulling into the church parking lot, everybody was there waiting for us. So …show more content…
My dad pulled into a hotel parking lot and everyone got out of the van and grabbed their things. All of us walked towards the front door and went in. Everybody had to wait in the lobby because Lisa Gallagher had to go to the counter and get our room numbers. While she was doing that, my friend, Erin Gallagher, and I had to use the restroom. Erin asked, “Can we go to the restroom?” “Yes,” Lisa replied. On our way to the restroom, we walked across a small bridge and saw huge fish in the pond. Now, on our way back to the lobby, we noticed that everyone was gone. Erin started to freak out, and then I started to freak out. Then I saw Ryan Grogg and walked up to him. He said that everyone thought we had been kidnapped even though we told Lisa we were going to the restroom. We found everyone else that was looking for us on the ground floor and headed upstairs. When we got upstairs, everybody else was happy to see us. They were also kind of upset that we took off without their permission, but we told Lisa where we were going. “We asked Lisa if we could go to the restroom and she said yes,” I told them. So I guess Lisa didn’t hear us. After all that trouble, we finally got in our rooms and got changed into our bathing suites so we could go swimming. When all of us were finished swimming, we went back upstairs and went to bed. So, I think that I have learned my

You would think people who have next to nothing in their lives, would want everything they could have their hands on. After spending a week with people who had less then me, I understood that I was completely wrong. I learned that people who have nothing are the most caring and empathetic. The people who lived at the camp we were staying at, greeted us with open arms and warm hearts. As a mission team, we were obviously caring people.…

It was the first day of our medical mission trip. The 13 of us were divided into four group: triage, clinic, pharmacy, and faith. Colin, Laure, and I sat in plastic white lawn chairs, facing the locals who sat on three wooden benches. We had prepared a short, spiritual lesson to bring Jesus’ love to the rural cities of the Dominican Republic. When I welcomed them in their native language, their faces softened.…

I was only 14 when I went on my mission trip, but experiencing that such a young age has shaped me for who I am. I was involved in three mission trips, which all occurred in the States, but in all three-mission trips I helped people who I believe needed it most. I was proud of what I did and I think it was something that not a lot of people did at my age. One of my biggest motivators were the people I was helping. After going on my first trip, I had bonded with others and had made me realize what the real world is like outside a small town in Iowa.…

I have done my fall internship at the same school but during the day. I feel that there is a lot I can do to support the students both academically and emotionally. During the first meeting with the counselor she expressed that being bilingual and bi-cultural will help. I know that there are not many opportunities to talk or have sessions with students, since they don’t have elective classes where I can see them, but I will try my best to be flexible with their schedules. I found out that they have a student government association, so I will try to be involved in their activities,…

If I could do something I've never done before, I would go on a missions trip. I would choose to do this because ever since I was younger, about in seventh grade, I have felt a call to go to Japan and minister. I feel like if God has given me the idea, it is meant to happen sometime in his plan for me. I would also want to go on a missions trip because that is what God has commanded us to do; spread his word. Taking this opportunity and using it to honor God would be just what he would want me to…

The day of August 27, 2012 I was officially titled a freshman. One look down those unknown red and blue walls, will forever change my perspective of high school. There was an instant moment of disbelief in my freshman, I was terrified, and no thought came to mind as to how I was going to survive high school for the next four years. Of course I knew it'll be different from my tiny middle school, but will it be like the cliché movies about the upcoming of age, or resemble the happiest times of life. From that first day, I knew I wasn’t like everyone else.…

“How has your Christian spiritual journey influenced your professional and/or academic experience?” While I grew up in a God loving home, I did not grow up going to church every Sunday. Nevertheless, I have come to realize that it was through my faith in him and realizing that we all have a purpose on this Earth that has influenced by academic and professional experiences. Being the first person in my family to attend college and graduate with a degree, it was particularly difficult monetarily for my parents to send me to college; however, my parents knew that it was in God’s plan for me to pursue a postsecondary education.…

My First Time Babysitting It was a dark rainy Friday evening, school just let out for the weekend and I was free except I still had one thing to do left, as I was doing a weird walk jog across the campus while trying not to get soaked just to get to the main building, as my phone started to make this weird ringing noise and obviously I got a bunch of looks. When I looked at my phone I saw that my dad was calling me and when I answered my dad told me not to walk home in the rain and just wait it out. Once I got to the main high school building, I walked through the maze of hallways and lockers, and finally just finally I made it to the front of the building. It was still pouring down rain when I looked out of the window, by this time the storm was almost through…
