My older sister and I were driving home from Disneyland once. We bought season passes when I was in 7th grade so she would sign me out of school on Wednesdays when we had short dismissal. We left the park early that day because my sister complained she was not feeling good.
“I’m getting a headache,” she said in the park. “I’m getting a migraine,” she said as we drove away from the happiest place on earth. That word at the time did not have a whole lot of meaning. I thought she was just being dramatic. The sun was just starting to set as we made our way home. My eyes grew heavy sitting in the passenger seat and I fell asleep almost as soon as I got in the car. It is a bad habit of mine. I woke up when the car came to a stop. We were only miles away from our house and my sister was ghostly white. She called our mom to come and drive the rest of the way home because her upper arm down to her fingers felt numb. The …show more content…
Instead, I ended up at the hospital with a different, more qualified nurse asking me the same question my mouth still refused to answer. At that point, food and sleep sounded like a good idea. My vision blurred and I swear someone was hitting my head with a hammer. I do not remember when or how, but I woke up in a hospital bed with an IV pumping fluids into my body. It hurt when I moved my head even the slightest motion, but at least I could talk, see, and did not feel numb. Apparently, I occasionally woke up and ate food from time to time. So when I gained full consciousness I threw up. Funny how I needed that food in my body and here it was throwing it back
