“Partridge I gonna have to let you go” Coach Mara explained in a sympathetic voice. The rest was a blur to me. He spoke for a few more long minutes and then I left quietly. All I remember after that was he said it was the hardest cut hes had to make this year, it was a pleasure meeting me, and he loves to see kids try again after getting cut. By that point, it didn’t mean much to me and what I wanted to hear never happened.
The summer into tenth grade I worked tirelessly to make the JV soccer team. The Needham soccer program is very competitive and making a team is difficult for most people.
