Personal Narrative: My First Job

Improved Essays
The first job experiences I have had remain the most influential occasions throughout the entire span of my life. As early as possible, I began to babysit for my cousins and close family friends. Many acquaintances of mine have often complained about babysitting for siblings or any child in general. Of course, this always shocked me, because I never seemed to mind. When I was a younger babysitter, it was never much of a challenge. Most of the time, I would be babysitting at my own house, so it was easy to use our own creative games to play. These games could be anything, but our favorites were always hide ‘n’ seek or a stuffed animal scavenger hunt. Now that I am older and can drive, I prefer to prepare something beforehand. I personally believe it is not good babysitting skills to watch them play video games or watch tv the entire time. However, these are still good “break time” activities. …show more content…
It was a very convenient time to be hired, since I recently turned 16 earned my driver's license. In the beginning, it was a small job, and my title was ‘Special Event Staff.’ My job was to help at events such as birthday parties and Kids’ Night Out, as well as serve as a fill in at the local supervised playgrounds when needed. I returned the following summer to officially supervise the playground. This included cleaning the grounds, serving lunches, and of course planning activities for the children. I also worked at many special events like I had done the previous

I have always been interested in learning and using new ideas. Throughout my life, I have invariably drawn from my life experiences, newly learned ideas and my continuing education to help problem-solve sensibly and realistically allowing me to move forward or help others reach their goals. Although I have no formal teaching experience, in my past work and involvement in organized sports, I have repeatedly used the Progressive philosophy. When dealing with 13 & 14 year olds many situations arise such as bullying, personality clashes or simply not understanding a drill or play. I deal with these situations by asking questions to stimulate a discussion, allowing them to draw on past experiences; positive or negative, consequently allowing them to come up with a solution or grasp the knowledge they are seeking.…

For an adolescent, a first job represents an exciting moment in their lives. A job teaches responsibility, the importance of punctuality, performing duties in a timely manner, working independently or in a team to accomplish a similar outcome. It promotes character, teaches discipline, and tolerance of others. Equally important, is understanding that there is an authority that must be respected and obeyed in the job site, even though circumstances prevent a mutual accordance. But the true purpose of a job, in theory, is the independence offered by receiving a salary in exchange for the hard work performed.…

The same salty snack, the same daily dirty chores, and most importantly the same crazy kiddos.
