Decent Essays
Well, it was my first hunting trip. When I was with my dad and my brother. It was his first hunting trip. We both had on camo and boats. We both had guns in our hands. He had 12 gage and I had a 20 gage I my hand. Then, we heard the dogs barking from a far distance. So, by that time, we noticed that the deer turned and went to a different direction in the field. So by that time, we waited thirty minutes, and we didn’t hear them no more so, we left and went to go get something to eat and a milk shake. Then we all went home. I went to sleep, and my dad and brother went to watch them some television.

Ever since my first backpacking trip 6 years ago, I’ve had an affinity for the Appalachian Trail. I’m constantly looking for excuses to mash our lives into the giant, 50 liter bags, and hit the trail for a few days. This past year, in early fall, I convinced my parents to don their sturdy boots and disappear into the wilds of bear state park with me for three days. We were dropped off at the top of Bear Mountain and, while my parents argued over directions, I wandered around the windswept ridge.…

The Adrenaline that a hunter feels being in the top of a tree stand waiting for the perfect deer to hunt is absolutely incredible, however hunters are not always lucky enough to find their prey. My dad and I began going around the ranch a day before we went hunting, we looked around to see where the biggest deer’s were located. We tested and align the rifles, to leave everything prepared to go hunting the following day at dawn. We were very positive that we were going to be lucky enough to hunt a big trophy deer, tough the results we had were never crossed our minds.…

My vision started to fail on mile four of the six-mile hike. Small white specks flickered across my field of vision. The next thing to go was my hearing, followed by my ability to walk in a straight line. My platoon sergeant saw the signs of heat stroke and forced me to stop. Originally from Chicago, where skyscrapers define the landscape, these mountains were not her home.…

I know this because this is what I would assume today. Again, my childish hope panned out because less than five minutes later the same three deer were back. My dad, who was extremely shocked, told me to calm down and take a long breath, shooting during the exhale when I took the shot. The deer got within twenty yards again. I, being a little more patient this time, slowly aimed at the doe.…
