Personal Narrative: My First Home

When I was 14, I went to my first house party and became pregnant a month later. I was abused. As you can imagine, I panicked. I didn’t know what to do or who to tell. I couldn't trust my so called “friends” who had forgotten about me that night or my drunken parents who were always higher than a kite. So, I did the only thing I knew I could; keep quiet and deal with it alone. My dad would always hit my mum, even when I was a child but not me. One night after loosing his temper to an extreme I had never seen before, he beat both my mum and I. I must have been around 3 months when I lost it. I was in bed when I naively whispered to myself, ‘just because he punched you a few times doesn’t mean you’re going to loose it.’ Obviously, I was wrong. …show more content…

Chris and all of the other nurses kept telling me they would do it in there but I refused. ‘I’m not going anywhere without an ultrasound now, Chris! I want it now!’ I didn’t mean to lash out, I was just exhausted and tired of everyone telling me what i should or shouldn't do. ‘I’m sorry Chris, I just want it now, please.’ Chris looked at the nurses and said, ’she wants it now, give it to her.’ ‘Right away Dr.’ The ultrasound tech came in and began perform the tests. She looked back and forth from the monitor to me and Chris several times. ‘What is it?’ I asked. ‘Honey you’re still pregnant,’ the nurse said. ‘No I’m not, I saw the baby come out of me in the restroom, I can’t be,’ I replied in confusion. ‘No, you’re still pregnant” she said again. ‘But I can’t be, it’s impossi…’ she turned the monitor towards me so and saw the baby’s heart beating. ‘Oh God!’ I said to Chris. There were tears in his eyes as he held me and caressed my cheek. The second worst day of my life ended up being the best, it was a

The flicker of a lamp powered by a dimly lit lightbulb flashed in intervals onto the cracked concrete path. Scattered shrub shavings, dried pine needles, and petrified insects encrusted the crevices left in between the cement squares. The long and narrow path led up to a strong yet aged wooden door that stood at the foot of the house. The house held nine people, three cats, and many tribulations to come. At first glance the house might’ve seemed ordinary; it had five bedrooms, two bathrooms, a laundry room, living room, kitchen etc.…

I couldn’t understand why I felt this way, why I wasn’t “normal”.…
