Quitting the sport I loved had made me realize that I need to start setting more goals for myself. Before my injury, my goals were mostly just about gymnastics. Now I have to set different goals in real life, which is for the better since I cannot do gymnastics forever. Before my injury gymnastics was all I thought about and I also did much better in school, but I was also more stressed. Gymnastics has taught me so much, especially patience which is why I did so well in school.…
The health career I choose was an athletic trainer. The reason I choose this career is because I play sports and I would love to when i'm older be either playing a sport or teaching people how to play a sport or do something that has to do with a sport and if being an athletic trainer is the right thing for me I would love to be one. The typical responsibilities of a athletic trainer is to, Provide 1st aid and injury assessment/treatment/rehabilitation/reconditioning. The athletic trainer will also be responsible for making appropriate physician referral. Students who want to become certified athletic trainers must earn a degree from an accredited athletic training curriculum.…
So it all started when my best friend from my old school asked me if I wanted to go with him to this big trampoline place in St. Louis called Sky zone with his family. First we went there and we had a certain time to be there so we all went out to eat to Steak n Shake. Then we all ate and ready to go. We had to take off our shoes and socks and put on special orange grip on the bottom socks. The place was pretty big.…
Chris Linde stated “My job as an athletic trainer is to prevent injuries as much as possible. I also support with strengthening and conditioning, guidance in nutrition and sleeping, and I also make sure the playing area is safe”. When he was young, he always adored being around the athletic trainer. Subsequently being pushed to his limits and fighting through the pain, there was always someone to care for his aches, and pains. She gave him opinions on what to do when he was alone to prevent fatigue, and serious injuries that would prevent him from playing to his fullest potential or limit him from achieving his goals.…
The whole cheer squad was very excited and extremely sad and emotional at the same time. The squad was headed to the trampoline park in Wichita. This was the last time we would be team members, not only are we losing our team but we are losing our cheer coach Mrs. Panko. Mrs. Kebra Panko was moving into another chapter of her life, she was moving to a new town, a new school, and most importantly a whole new cheer squad. We are all very excited for her to be the cheer coach but at the same time we were sad, what if she forgot about us, her girls, the ones who helped her become the awesome, cheer coach she was.…
Hi Ms. Pierce, Hope you had a wonderful break and a nice day, The word I would use to describe my break is deciphering because I got a break from dance and school. For example, I was able to sleep to try to avenge the early wakings during school days and early dance practices. In addition to that, I had nothing to be concerned about. Having a break from both school and dance gave me time to think about myself and what I wanted for my future; besides, I was able to unwind. The time I had was crucial to me because sometimes in the middle of all the activities in the year I have no time to think.…
Have you ever been pushed to the point where you felt like you couldn’t go any further, like your body and mind would fall apart if pushed harder? In gymnastics, you are pushed to your mental and physical breaking point. When it comes time to compete, you have to make sure you know your routine and how to make it win the perfect 10. I, as a newly-budding 5th grader, knew this decently well, and my first gymnastics meet was definitely one for the memories. Flipped Out Gymnastics, located in Howell, was where I trained and competed as a level 5 gymnast.…
I have been dancing since the age of 4. I have been on my high school's varsity dance team in which I got to compete at the WACPC State Dance Championships and have won numerous awards. Currently, I take classes at the Eau Claire School of Dance. Throughout my dance career, I have studied Hip-Hop, Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Pom and Pointe. This past summer I received an All-American Dancer.…
Roller derby When I first started derby, I got killed. Girls from ages from 10-17 years old were crashing into me. I was 10 and had no skill at all. At practice we had to wear a lot. I had black Riedell skates, a blue helmet and mouthguard.…
“Your gymnastics career is over.” I pranced my way to the middle of the floor and took my starting position. The generic routine music started off slow, but quickly picked up. It was the first meet of the season. The previous year I placed second at the Idaho State Championship, with the difference between first and second being an additional step.…

As stated before in our first lecture, dance is a living and fleeting art form. I believe that dance is a living art form because it is a three-dimensional picture to art. What I mean by this is that, art is normally seen on walls or as sculptures, but dance is an amazing opportunity to view art while in movement. If you are anything like me, when I look at a painting of two people or many, I always wonder what it would be like to see them actually dancing, singing, or even laughing. By watching dance, it is my living art form.…
It is my philosophy that hard work will always pay off sooner or later. Whether it be physical or mental, the reward is correspondent to the amount of effort put in. In 10th grade, I had back surgery that rendered my back weak. I set the very difficult goal of regaining my strength and working hard the next year in order to make varsity the following year. My ambition moved me to go to physical therapy and give it 110%.…
“Runners on your mark…Set...Poww!” Those were the last sounds I heard during what could have been my last race of my sophomore year in collegiate Track and Field. It was a frisky, yet cool Saturday in April and after a strong performance in the previous indoor and outdoor season (4x100m and 400m), I was determined to continue and uphold my strong form on this day. There is a saying that things do not always turn out the way we hope, but I believe, there is always a positive lesson to be learned from every life event. I love sports.…
My First Dance Competition The first time I performed at a dance competition was a very exciting and memorable moment for me. I was six years old and insanely nervous. Typically the nerves hit me while I wait in the wing of the stage for my name to be called, but this time it began the moment I woke up in the morning. I remember having to wake up at about six in the morning in order to have time to get ready and be at the convention center in Wichita when the doors opened at 7:30 a.m.…
