Personal Narrative: My First Football

I never would have thought that after the first practice I would be here. The first practice I was nervous and wanted to be anywhere but at the field. Now at the first game I was excited and there was no place I’d rather be. I woke that fall morning ready to go. It was finally the day of my first football game. All that practice was going to put to the test. I kept asking my parents if we could go yet and they finally said yes. I ran outside and hopped on my bike. The field is only a few blocks away from my house but it took me about a minute to get there. We had to arrive to the game an hour early in full gear. The coach looked over to sideline for a player from the old guns to take his place except none of them had their helmets on or was paying attention. He called on me, I was excited to play again and jumped right in. I wasn't exactly sure what to do but I didn't care. When I got into the defensive huddle I was told, don't let the receiver get behind me. We broke from the huddle and I lined up across from the receiver. As the quarterback started his candice I kept thinking to myself stay in front, don't let him get past you. The receiver started to ran at me, I backed up, took a quick look at the quarterback saw he was going into his throwing motion. He was throwing it to the man I was covering. The ball was getting closer. I thought he overthrew it but I couldn’t be sure. I waited until the perfect time and jumped up as high as I could, felt the ball hit my fingers, felt the receiver run into to me and fall to the ground. When I was on ground I felt for the ball and when realized it was there, jumped up showed the referee that I did pick it off. When I saw him signal it was our ball I was so happy I wanted to spike the ball but didn't have the chance, which was good because I was mobbed by my teammates who were on
