The sweat was trickling down my forehead and into my eyes making it hard to see. The butterflies in my stomach were frantic causing my stomach to do flips. I had to hide my fear and try to focus on the pitcher; however, the other team could sense my tension and started to creep in.…

“A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions.” Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. I had always been afraid to try new things, yet when I did all I wanted to do was to experience more of them. For me, leaning how to pitch was one of the best experiences I have ever tried. I took something which I thought was going to be terrifying and turned it into a wonderful achievement of mine.…

Six and a half games. That is the lead the Chicago Cubs are left with after suffering their fifth straight loss on Saturday. After going 4-0 last month with a 1.41 ERA and being named the National League pitcher of the month for June, Lester has given up 13 runs the last 4 1/3 innings throughout his last two starts. “We all go through times where, just like hitters, you go through slumps,” Lester told reporters after the game.…

It was a great day for baseball, the sun was shining, it had the cool breeze of early summer, and the scent of freshly mowed grass was still lingering in the air. The park was packed with fans who had traveled from all over the country to see one of sport’s greatest spectacles. Some weren’t even fans of any teams but just wanted to be in attendance and witness the greatness of the event.
