Personal Narrative: My First Football Game

Decent Essays
The whistle blew as I ungracefully hit the ground. It went into slow motion. Lying on the ground a teammate rushed to me to help me up. I grabbed her hand and jumped up. The ref in the bright yellow shirt with black stripes walks over to the girl who pushed me, he reaches for his pocket and pulls out a yellow card that matches his shirt. The ref then turns to me, “Are you okay, do you need a sub?” he asks, “no, I wanna take the PK, I need to take the PK” I respond still catching my breath. I could hear the opposing coach yellow “let them play!” “she fell on her own!” and that was just the beginning of it. It was the final minutes of our last regular season soccer game, the game was tied 0-0, and now that I was pushed over in the goalie box

After two more plays we punted the ball, I was lined up on the outside as a bullet, the ball was snapped and kicked down the field. The defenders in front of me back peddled and slammed on the breaks to try and put a block on me but I stepped to the side quickly and avoided it, the ball carrier was getting closer, I met him at the sideline, lowered my shoulder and sent him out of bounds. I stood up, my whole body felt as if it was made of jello, my control over my eyes was gone, they kept drifting all over the place uncontrollably. Luckily I was close enough to my sideline and someone on my team could see something wasn't.…
