During my time in the Army, I have had plenty of obstacles, one in particular would be when I was a RTO (radio tech operator) and we were attached to another battalion to go raid a village. We patrolled all night until we walked twelve miles to our location avoiding helicopters flying in the sky looking for us. Once we finally set up an OP (observation post) we had a team go out and recon the village and we established a plan on how we were going to attack the village. My squad only had about nine of us, so we were not initially part of the main element to go in and assault the village. However, as we started creeping up to the first obstacle, a fence, helicopters started patrolling for us again.…

When our country calls, there is only a few that answer her willingly and honorably. There are a few people who will courageously go to battle for Mother America. Two of those who have paid the toll and served under the command of the president of the united states are Cyrus F. I was given the task to conduct an experiment that required me to observe reactions of others at a public place and to take notes. Along with the note taking the instructions indicated to do nothing. Literally nothing, to stand there and be unoccupied, or be involved in normal kinds of activity, that include playing with my phone, looking in my pockets, whistling, or such that was going to distract me from accomplishing this project successfully. This weekend on September 10th, 2016 I decided to execute this experiment on Fort George G. Meade military installation. This was an experience I will never forget!…

Growing up in Brooklyn, New York, I was exposed to several different types of cultures and different foods from all around the world. On my city block in Bensonhurst we had the likes of Turkish, Japanize, Croatian and Russian people to name a few. Before joining the Army I had little idea that I had merely scratched the surface of the different types of people that there was in the world, at least in the first world countries. The summer before my junior year, I decided it was finally time to start looking around for my first job. My reasoning was simple; I needed money for a new computer, so I applied at a local grocery store, and landed a job as a bagger. I figured I would save up the money for a new computer and then quit. However, to my surprise, I ended up thoroughly enjoying the responsibility of a real job. Although I was just a bagger, I always gave my full effort with a positive attitude, and as time went on I developed passionate thirst to learn more and more at the store.…

During my time in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard, which is a branch of the United States Air Force, I have had many positive experiences. From the places I have been able to see to the people I have met, the privilege of being able to wear the uniform has provided me with better involvements and experiences than most will have in their lives. About a year and a half ago, I earned the rank of Technical Sargent, which was my greatest personal achievement to the current moment in my career. However due to unforeseen or better put situations, I had neglected to notice in the past that my single greatest achievement had become my most bittersweet one as it often left me feeling isolated and alone. In the rank structure of the Air Force, Technical…

Upon graduating from the United States Military Academy, I will commission into the Army as a Second Lieutenant and serve as an infantry officer. Knowing this, I have set out to gain a good understanding of what is expected of me upon my arrival at my unit. One way to gain this understanding is to continuously conduct interviews with the past and current members of the infantry branch. By conducting these interviews, I have the ability to learn a lot about what is expected of me and where junior officers have failed before. Thus far, I have conducted three formal interviews with two Staff Sergeants and a First Lieutenant, who serve within the infantry branch.…
