Starting something new, such as going to anew school can be scary; until you get used to it at that point everything gets better little by little. Based on my Medical Administrative Assisting experience, thus far, has been fun and surprising. My first day at Pima, I was nervous and excited at the same time; mostly nervous – I feared failing, to have an unpleasant teacher, and afraid I might even leave. Eventually, I passed more than a couple of classes; I excelled in typing, writing, and medical terminology. I always thought, “Okay, if you made it this far, then you might as well finish.” Somehow I’ve made it this far-off without failing a class, stressing out, and managed to maintain coming to school every day.

It was a scorching summer afternoon around three o’ clock PM at J.D Redd Park. I was anxiously waiting in third base for the batter to approach the plate and smack the yarn covered ball just enough for me to make it to the home plate. As the sun hits my face I see the pitcher retract his right arm getting ready to throw it. As I see the ball leave the pitcher’s hand, I breathed in the humid air, making preparations to sprint as fast as I could and make it to the home plate. Before I could even gather my thoughts the ball departed from the pitcher’s hand and into the bat of one of the members of my team.…

When I began Energy Express, I thought my role would be improving children's reading skills and helping them cultivate a passion for reading. However, throughout my summer of service I learned that the role of an Energy Express mentor is much greater. To mentor a child is to shape their personality and future, it is to help them grow to love learning and also to love themselves, it is to offer them hope and love since many children in this area struggle within untraditional family structures, and it is to teach them their potential is endless. Therefore, my three goals would be: cultivate a love for readnig through hands-on activities, provide a support, fun, and active enviroment that welcomes and comforts all children, and to build lasting, stable friendships among the children I mentor.…

During my internship experience, I learned a lot of things that I thought I knew but are misconstrued on. With that being said, I know everything must be done in decent order or this will cause chaos and lead to confusion. I also learned everything takes patience and is very time- consuming. I became frustrated, so many times and just wanted to give up, but I had to remind myself that hard times are going to come and everything is going to work out. Many times I sat on my bed crying because it seems like everything piled on me at one time.…

My first major mission, a young 18 year old, the lead gunner behind a M240B as the first line of defense for our platoon; would soon be a situation that left an imprint in my life and has forever changed how I now lead as an NCO. This mission took place in 2007 near the city of Ad Dawr, Iraq. The mission was complex but my orders were simple, protect the convoy and provide security. The main objective was to expose and detain (if possible) a cell leader to include destroying his know cache point. Although the mission it-self went rather well a series of events would soon unravel and would give me a new perspective on how stress and a very political time in the war would make even the best of leaders fold under pressure.…
