On November 6, 1869, the first college football game was played by two college students from Rutgers and Princeton. It wasn’t until the 1880s that the game was given actual rules and regulations by a great Rugby player from Yale named Walter Camp. He slowly transformed Rugby into a new game we know now as American football.
