This particular event took place in 2010. We were in Pulaski, and we had to win a baseball tournament. We were the underdogs of the entire tournament. Here is the story.
We were in the middle of the 15 minute drive to Pulaski and we were in a 2010 silver Chevy Camaro. That was my good luck token throughout the tournament. We needed to beat two more teams to be into the championship. We needed to win two games to be in the championship game. We ended up beating Pulaski 5-0, knocking them out of playoff contention.
We needed to beat the New London B team again to be in the championship game. That game went by like a blur, but I know we won 4-3. We were in the championship game. After the game we celebrated on winning the game.
The next day when we started warming up for the game we recognized the other team. Bonduel was the team that we were facing. I was talking to Jason VDL. I said” Do you think that we will win?”
“ We will have to see,” he replied.
We started the game on a bad note. We tried to get going, but we didn’t, and they were on a roll. They scored 6 runs in the first inning. We ended up holding them to no runs the next four innings. In the third inning we got on a roll scoring five runs. The score was 6-0. We needed a spark. Jason gave us a huge spark. Two outs, bases empty, score is 5-6, full count. Jason gets walked. There is the tying run on first base. The next batter hits a base hit to fight field and scored Jason. He stole third base . The next batter Owen Gertz, hits a bomb to left field. The score is 7-6, we were winning. They had to score 2 runs just like we did but they didn't. We won the game and we got a trophy that was made of marble. I learned something that weekend, Never give

First Home Run The pitcher steps on to the mound and is ready to pitch, and whoosh in comes a fastball and crack the way I hit the ball sounded like banging a hammer on a piece of metal and as I took off running I watched the ball sail out of the park for my first home run. So we prayed and the game started and we played nervously. My captain, Melissa dribbled down the court, looked to pass, and took the shot but missed it. Michelle also missed her fast-break lay up, and I missed my free throw. At the end of Quarter 2, it was like playing football because the scoreboard only shows 2 for Ipeka Tomang (my school) and 3 for Yadika. That indicates how much we are struggling the whole quarter never really score but a constant battle between getting and loosing the ball.…
