Personal Narrative: My First Baseball Team

The day was hot! It was the middle of July in Texas after all and the time was about 4:00pm almost the hottest part of the day, and although, it was in the mid-90s, the humidity made it feel like it was in the upper 100s. There was a nice breeze coming off of the bay which kind of made the weather bearable. However, the weather could not hold our excitement down or make us feel miserable because we were attending our very first baseball game. It was Americas past time and we could see why. You could just feel the excitement in the air as the home team took the field, the crowd was at their feet and cheering as loud as can be as the pitcher threw his first pitch. We lucked out and got to sit right behind home plate, we could also smell …show more content…
We watched as the home pitcher struck the first guy out, at this point there was no score but, we were hopeful that our team would win, much like anyone would. We watched in silence as our pitcher struck the last guy out, and it was our team’s time to bat again. We watched as the first guy stepped up to the plate, all eyes were on him as he hit his first ball, but, it did go to the outfield, it went up in the air. At this point all eyes watched the sky for the foul, my husband being the 6ft 1in giant that he is only had to reach out about an inch to grab the ball, as my youngest screamed "Daddy got the ball, Daddy got the ball!" the crowd around us cheered about his victory and you could see the pride in my boys' eyes as their father the superhero handed the fly ball to them. Our home team lost that day but, we did not care, we experienced something for the first time together that day and no one could take that from us, as we headed home, my oldest son asked "Can we go to the next home game?" My husband and I looked at each other and said "yes son, we sure can." Our family now had something to do that we all took pride

During that very special baseball game I was beasting at shortstop. Every time a ball was hit my way I would either catch it or scoop it up off the ground depending on what type of hit it was but if the ball came my way my fans already knew what was going to happen. My fans already knew that I was going to get the batter out or get a double play and most of the time I did. It felt so great knowing that I helped my team achieve excellence and earn victories. My team had a very strong and unstoppable defense and if it wasn't for our teamwork, we wouldn't have had such a successful season.…

One night in the Spring of 2013, I was playing little league baseball in Pinetops, NC. The game was close and it was against our archrivals, the Yankees. My team, the Red Sox, were the best team in the league, and we were determined that we weren’t going to lose to our rivals in one of the biggest games of the year. It was a tied ball game, and one of the players on the Yankees named Levi came up to bat. Levi was a tall, strong, extremely cocky, but I will say, he is a really good baseball player.…

But I have always had this certain drive in me to go through struggles and eventually come out on top among other competitors. Sophomore year was supposed to be my year, my year to be the starting catcher on the varsity baseball team at Mary Persons High School. The baseball coach even said that in his own words.…

I would mimic my idols every chance I had or I would dream of myself being in a critical situation to win the game and to make history. Now, I am chasing my dream by trying to become one of those greats who played the game.…

My first baseball game ever had been off to a tremendous start; until my next at bat. After my first at bat, I was riding my high horse thinking I was going to get another hit and make my dad proud all over again. I stepped into the white caulk batter’s box, and went through it all again. As the pitch came in, I noticed it seemed to be coming towards me instead of down the middle.
