Personal Narrative: My First American Invasion

It all started Saturday May 13, 2006. It was around 2PM and we had just finished lunch. My siblings and I were about to go outside to play when my mom stopped us on our tracks and said “it too hot to be playing outside se van a dihidratar. You guys can get in the pool later on cuando se baje el sol.” Of course she was right, as my brother opened the front door we could feel the blazing, heat at least 100 degrees. So we all sat down in the the living room. My dad and mom were sitting on the small couch, my mom was feeding the baby a bottle. While my siblings and I were all spread out on the large couch, we were all still in our pjs including my dad. My dad had just started flipping through the channels trying to find a movie we could all watch when we heard a loud knock on the front door. …show more content…
So my dad gets up to open the door still wearing his black Nike shorts and white undershirt he sleeps in. As he opens the door I could see it was the police and Border Patrol and they’re here to arrest my dad. Through the eyes of a scared eight-year-old I watch in terror as they are putting my dad in handcuffs. Even though there was a lot of commotion going on, to me it felt like time had stop and I can hear my mom in the distance but all I can concentrate on is my dad in handcuffs. While I was trying to process all of this my mom was pulling me and my sibling away to another room. She had taken us to my room that me and my sister shared. As she walked in she told us “everything is going to be okay. Just stay in here and don’t come out until i come and get you.” then she walked out and closed the door behind
