Personal Narrative: My Field Trip To Sacramento

Improved Essays
I was born in Sacramento, California in the Natomas area. In Natomas, I feel like I know everyone. I have been here since I was born and I think majority people have a love-hate relationship with Sacramento. At times people are saying how great Sacramento is. People love to go to the Sacramento River, Sand Cove, right off of Garden Highway. Other days people are complaining about how much the weather sucks. It is true, the weather here can unpredictable here. There are not many places where it is 100 degrees on Monday and a cool 60 raining like cats and dogs by Wednesday. Being that Sacramento is so close to the Bay Area, and we do not have an actual football team of our own, there are many San Francisco Forty Niner or Oakland Raider fans. Although there was no football team we do have the Sacramento Kings, while I am not personally a fan, Sacramento residents are definitely fanatical about the Kings. Even though I grew up like five mins from the arena I still went to games. There are many attraction that are unique to Sacramento and some that only a true Sacramentan can explain first hand. The true Sacramentan are representing the Sacramento Kings proudly. The Kings are probably the most well-known entity in Sacramento. They are so loved that our Mayor, Kevin Johnson, is a former player. Ture fans love the team so much that they take pride in all their game, whether they win or lose. This was evident, especially when they were trying to move the team to Anaheim. The fans rallied together, even Mayor Johnson show his support, to keep the team here. As a result of the fans efforts and support from the city construction for a new area is currently underway, coming in 2016. Sacramentans still tend to call Sleep train arena Arco Area. While the Kings are the main sports attraction in Sacramento there are other teams that Sacramentans enjoy as well. The San Francisco Forty Niner and the Oakland Raiders are tow team that Sacramento residents have been able to take part in their fun loving rivalry. For the Forty Niners, in recent years, especially with their super bowl appearance, their popularity seems to have grown. Another great thing about being a Sacramentan is that we have a lot of other sports to also enjoy. We have several baseball teams, such as Sacramento’s very own River Cats, San Francisco Giants, Oakland A's, and our new soccer team, the Sac Republic. I can say Sacramentans cheer win or lose with any team because we love sports. Another unique feature in Sacramento that you would have to be from her to fully understand is the unpredictable weather. Sacramentan have to be able to adapt to the ever changing weather quickly. Considering on day is can be 60 degrees freezing and the following week 90 degrees. For example, October is well into fall, but in Sacramento people are still wearing short until mid to late October. People from Sacramento will say they love the summer here but know it's …show more content…
For example, a field trip to Sly Park or Westminster Woods is a rite of passage for almost all fourth, fifth, or sixth graders in Sacrament. I remember in sixth grade, and experiencing the outdoors with my peers. We went hiking, swimming, and were able to bonded over nature. We spend the whole week being split up into groups. Another field trip most kids in Sacramento get to experience is the Discovery Museum. This is usually in the third or fourth grade and it is a chance to see how science and space work up close and in person. Some other attractions that only a true Sacramentan can fully appreciate are the Sacramento Zoo, Fairytale Town, and Funderland, Sutter's Fort, the Crocker Museum and the Historical Train Museum in Old Sac. You cannot mention attraction in Sacramento without talking about the Sacramento River or the Folsom lake. I remember spending countess hours there are a kid. There is also a notorious side to Sacramento that most outside of here do not know about. Dorothea Puente, was a serial killer, convicted of killing elderly residents of her boarding home. Her house, located in downtown Sacramento, has been renovated and turned into a museum where you can take

Our field trip to Chicago offered me a new way of seeing the city. I have been to Chicago multiple times, yet this trip offered me an experience I was not expecting. It offered me an insight to the darkness that covers the city and the beacons of light that try to shine through that darkness. It opened my eyes to those who are searching for a truth, a love and an acceptance and are finding it in so many different places; whether it is Jesus People USA, South East Friendship Center, Olive Branch, a Krishna Temple or an Islamic Mosque. In each of these places individuals are just trying to figure out where they belong and if they can find acceptance, but what each offers is entirely different.…

Lemoore, California. The 559, the 93245, the small rural town located in the central region of the San Joaquin Valley. A place that will melt flip flops to the ground in the summer, yet it will have people gathering around a fire in the winter with their hands wrapped tightly around a steaming cup of cocoa. Not much goes on in this town and it is not quite what someone would call a vacation destination, but there is indeed something special about this town. This special characteristic is the way religion connects and creates a family out of the majority of people who live in this town.…

We got to see stalagmites, stalactites, flowstones, chandeliers and soda straws. We took lots and lots of pictures because if I didn't slow my family, I feel like they wouldn't have believed me. We spent about half our day there, and then after that she took me to the San Antonio Zoo. That zoo was humongous, way bigger than the one in the valley. I saw monkeys, elephants, rhinoceros, lions, zebras, and even penguins.…
