Improved Essays
I had many powerful experiences during our field study trip to Cape Cod. It was a wonderful experience, and I learned so much in those five days. However, there were a few salient experiences I had that stood out among the others. These three moments combined cumulated into an overall experience that had a significant and lasting impact on my future thesis goals.
The first salient moment occurred during the second day of the trip. We had just spent the entire day walking in the sand and the sun, and I was exhausted and hurting. We were all dragging, and slowing trudging through Nauset Marsh. It was just getting dark and the blood moon was rising over the beach, and the only thing I wanted to do and cared about at that moment in time was getting

As the daughter of parents who love to travel, I’ve had the pleasure of travelling across Canada and America as well as a few other countries from a young age. I have visited the loud and bustling streets of Tokyo and the ethereal gardens in Kyoto, stood on the edge of the Grand Canyon, walked the strip in Las Vegas, and watch the sun set over the Atlantic Ocean in Martha’s Vineyard. Although I should be able to look back on a childhood filled with events and memories from trips, I find it difficult to recall most vacations without a visual prompt. When I flip through old family photo albums, I don’t recall much more than what is shown in their pages. The outdated clothing, the people, and the locations are seen in the images, and therefore…

One of the first things I remember about going on that trip is looking down at my feet and thinking that I would die if I fell. I was nine and very light-headed at the time. It was the winter of 2009 and one of the first times I had ever gone to Colorado. The drive there took about 6 hours from our house so you can imagine my excitement at finally getting out of the car as an inpatient nine-year-old. We were renting a small two story log cabin with a hot tub on the second- floor balcony from a family that had a winter home somewhere in Florida.…

I was hesitant for the change since I was going into a much bigger school and meeting new people. I went into freshman year with a positive mindset, making new friends & knowing it was going to be MY year. I had faced many successes academically and faced a few failures that I am going to improve my sophomore year so I don’t make the same mistakes.…

In January of last year I went on a trip to Colorado on a "college visit" with a friend and my father to University of Colorado Boulder. We left Wednesday night, skipping school both Thursday and Friday. We did go to the college and took a tour of the campus on Thursday which I greatly enjoyed, it is beautiful out there and at elevation there is very little humidity. The true intention of the trip, as important as the college visit was, was to go to Breckenridge Resort and spend the weekend snowboarding. A couple of my dad's friends were also going and we were going to share their timeshare.…

It was a gloomy day. I was at our Subdivision’s Local Beach getting ready to swim out to the raft with my four friends. The “raft” as we called it was the bottom end of a Pontoon Boat anchored in the center of Dollar Lake. Occasionally the rain and winds blew it. When my friends arrived we dove into the shallow end of the beach and acquainted our bodies with the cold, late Summer temperature.…
