The first baby I held was during a church lesson with about ten other people and someone had to hold the teacher's baby when he was teaching. At the time, I hadn’t seen her for about a month and was super excited to see her. I ran in dropped my stuff and gave her a hug, but I noticed that she had something wrapped in her hand. I asked who the present was for?
She responded and said, “It is for you open it.”
I proceeded and tore through the wrapping paper so fast and I was baffled to find a baby's onesie I looked at it and it was just a light grey baby onesie. She continued to mention the back of the onesie. I turned it around and it said, “If you mess with me, you’re messing with my uncle.” I turned to her and said, “Is this a joke?”
I was shocked, I didn’t know what to say. To be honest, I was a little hesitant about the idea of being an uncle, due to my past experience with babies.
After that day, I was still rolling over the idea of being an uncle, and I joked about it all the time. When it came to the time of her shower, there was a calendar of predictions on when the guests thought the baby would be born. Her due date was on the 23rd of December, and when I got the calendar the only remote day close to her due date was Christmas. The next day, on Christmas eve we did all our traditions and we did everything and there was no sign of my sister going into labor. On Christmas morning we all woke up very early and gathered around our tree to open our presents, when my sister notified us that she was having small contractions. We all hurried to open our presents as fast as we could and at the end Angela was taken up to the hospital in Salem. We then all cleaned up the house and then rushed up to the hospital. When we arrived we waited in the waiting room and at 9:03PM Brenely Mae Calder was born. As we walked into the delivery room, the room was filled with love for this little baby, but all I was worried about was holding Brenley. I was afraid of dropping her because I had never held a newborn. As I held her my heart was pounding, she was the most beautiful, harmless, little thing in the world and I had no reason to be scared of
