Personal Narrative: My Family's Land On Memorial Day

Improved Essays
Family, friends, and employees were all at my family’s land on Memorial Day having our annual 5k mud run when we got that awful call. I remember coming up the big creek embankment and hearing people scream in panic and hearing what sounded like vehicles trying to get unstuck. I thought to myself “What could be wrong?” thinking someone had got injured. I remember my cousin, Cole, frantically running to me telling me to hurry because my uncle’s pet store, Pet World, in Lawrence was on fire. That was the last thing I was expecting. We all crammed into cars trying to get there as soon as possible not knowing how bad the fire was, or what to expect.
When we arrived at the scene and seen the building up in flames it was worse than I ever expected.

At first, families didn’t take the fire seriously until it was too late. They were so frightened they were leaving behind friends and neighbors, some of them were even leaving families spreading apart from every direction taking turns And corners some people don’t even know where their going. Client: 7939-042018 Hello Marcelino, I trust you had a good Memorial Day observance, and apologize for just getting back to you; as being closed for two days and with the shortened work week, we are scrambling to get caught up. Having said that, to answer your questions, the credit reporting agencies (CRAs), Original Creditors (OCs), and Collection Companies all have 30 days to respond to a consumer's dispute. However, the bureaus can extend this period for an additional 15 days, if additional information has been submitted within the allotted time. Moreover, if they attempt to falsely extend the reinvestigation to 45 days, I/we will immediately address the violation.…

At the end of the day, the environment is all we have, because without it we wouldn’t be here. It is crucial for people to acknowledge this and treat their land properly. The first principle of the earth charter discusses why you must respect the earth, and life in all of its diversity. It states that you must” Recognize that all beings are interdependent and every form of life has value regardless of its worth to human beings.” I believe Tobias was a man who lived his life with standards like such.…

In August of 2011, I received a phone call I would have never imagined. My dad had been in a serious accident while working at Broome High School in Spartanburg, South Carolina. While working thirty feet off of the ground, out of a bucket truck, a hydraulic line erupted and ignited. The flames encircled he and the basket. To get away from the fire, he jumped out of the basket, and caught on to the bottom of the bucket at the last minute.…

My time at Valley Forge was over, I had been fighting for general George Washington since the summer of 1775 and the victory on April 13 looked so far away because it was only late December, and it was seeming as if a turning point was unlikely. Do I stay and be loyal to my brothers or do I leave and never look back. I had to make my choice very soon, I could have left and the pain of seeing my brothers die , or I could stay and fight for my freedom such as many men had already done. The decision I made was to stay and fight for my country because many men had gotten sick, and I was a faithful servant to my country and I wanted to do what I came to the new world to do which was achieved my freedom .…

We all know that the bad memories are always the most memorable. When I was younger,I wasn't the most tamed child, I had a tendency of getting into mischief. I Even once received ten minutes on the wall for getting into trouble. Time on the wall also meant how long you got held from recess. It was anywhere from stealing a pencil, to going onto the forbidden Monkey Bars.…

The only thing in the world that’s constant is war. It was an aphorism murmured in the sticky summer of 1864 as the Civil War tore America apart—and it was a truth that had only become more evident in my more than twenty years as a vampire. Every time I picked up the paper, there were stories of humans fighting humans: brawls on the streets of San Francisco, uprisings in India, insurrections all over Europe. And once blood had been shed and graves marked, they’d start all over again.…

Today was a day that I will never be able to get out of my memory, no matter how hard I try. It will always come back one way or another. I am not happy with what I saw but as a P.F.C. in the U.S. Army, I am supposed to be trained to have a thick brain with these types of environments. Even after witnessing all the horrors in the trenches of WW1, we were all in a huge state of shock. The things that were done to these people are so inhumane that it took a while for most of us to process what was going on and what had happened to these innocent people.…
