I also have siblings who I relate to this way. I am the middle child in a clan of eight siblings. I gained exponentially from both examples of my families’ accomplishments and struggles, as well as, their direct involvement (i.e.- auto mechanics & entrepreneurial principals). My central positioning was ideal with such a variety of talents and abilities in my household. I could then…
I believe that I will be comfortable working with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. I will have a certain level of flexibility in functioning with different group of people. This is because my most of the profile dimensions are in the middle of the extreme ends. This means that I can easily adjust in any kind of environment. On comparing my Cultural Profile with my home country's plot, I found that there is a very close relation between them.…
The world I come from is filled with great people, and is set up with opportunities for success, and achievement. I come from a strong, large, multiracial family. A family of courage, pride and one that has fought to prosper for generations. I know because of them I became the woman I am today. I grew up very fortunate due to the fact that my parents fought so hard to give my three sister, brother and I the life they couldn't receive.…
My Culture I am a mix of two cultures. I am half Mexican and half American. Even though I am half Mexican, my spanish isn’t good. I can’t speak spanish fluently and I tend to strudder a lot. My spelling is pretty bad too.…
Going through small private schools in a little town since I was in kindergarten has set me up for very few cultural experiences but my parents never wanted my siblings and I to grow up like this. When my family goes on vacation my mom always tries to fully submerge us in the culture around us. For example, a few years ago, my family and I went on a vacation in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico. We stayed in a nice resort and it was never necessary to leave the property if you didn’t want to. Most people never did.…
Firstborn children are typically believed to be serious, conscientious, directive, goal-oriented, aggressive, rule-conscious, exacting, conservative, organized, responsible, jealous, fearful, high achieving, competitive, high in self-esteem, and anxious. They may learn the concept of power at a young age, and this can be expressed in their desire to help, protect and lead others. The firstborn may also have the need to regain praise from their parents that they received before their siblings were born. The first born may come to feel unloved through the perceived loss of mother's love to the new baby. Adler (1964) referred to this as being "dethroned" by the younger sibling.…
I believe that my personal background, and my success despite the adversity that I have faced is an essential part of who I am. The first of my struggles came from being born to two teenage parents without at least a high school education, and although my mother went on to get a GED and to college my father did not. Many people in my family had issues with substance abuse and addictions including my father. Although, I was raised by my mother and grandmother, my father’s actions and behaviors negatively impacted my life. My father was verbally and mentally abusive to the people around him, especially when he used alcohol.…
I grow up in a very Latin traditional family, I have two brothers, one is younger and the other one is older, I am the only girl of the family. My dad is a jeweler and my mom is a stay home mother. My mother always wanted to work and do something different but my dad never let her, my family always have been very male chauvinist. I grow up watching the frustration of my mom because she never could accomplish her dreams and witnessing the mistreatment of my father to my mother, that bothered me a lot but there was not too much that I could do.…
On a Saturday morning I decided to do a family tree project for my English class. On one of the websites I went to an ad popped up on the screen telling me I can learn more about my family history through my DNA and it was for free. I decided to try it because I was curious about my family history, so I had applied for it. Three days later I had gotten a DNA testing kit. I had put the tooth cotton swab in my mouth and moved it around to get my saliva on it.…

For years, my wife and I have known our oldest daughter has abandonment issues, most of which I ignored, evidencing there was no foundation for her to feel that way. My wife and I were married two years before we had our first child, and have remained married to this day. The manner in which we relate to one another reflects a very healthy relationship. We were very shocked and disappointed over the behavior of our first born, especially when her siblings were doing much better than her in all aspects. It was not until the Masters of Social Work Program that I even began to try to understand what was really troubling her.…
¬¬Cultural and ethnic identities are not things that you are born with. Sure your ethnic heritage may determine things like the color of your skin, but an ethnic identity stretches far deeper than just skin color. Cultural and ethnic identities are things that are learned over time. They are formed through a collection of teachings, experiences, and choices. This autobiography will explore how my ethnic and cultural identities developed throughout my life.…
My grandparents were the storytellers in my life and I believe that it was them that have had the biggest impact on how I would define my ethnic background. When I was growing up I used to love hearing stories about my grandparent’s experiences and learning more about my family’s history. Some of the stories that were told to me were more pronounced than others, but I think that the common theme in all of their stories, were the sense of national pride that came with being an American. However, it is blindingly clear that my family’s racial designation is white, but this factor was missing from all of their stories.…
My origin Story Do you feel how hard is it when you forced to leave your own country? Since we born, the process of changes and challenges starts taking effects on us physically and emotionally. In our life, we never expect every thing run in good shape or smoothly. For example, we never thought that one day we as a family are going to live in The United States. Since leaving my country, Iraq, which is the most horrible thing in my memory, I have gone through enough challenges not only myself but even for my family as well that converted our way of life.…
As a child, having rules to follow wasn’t unheard of with my family. There was always a way to behavior with friends/family, at school, at home and out in the street. Often I found myself getting into trouble because I didn 't listen and also the fact that I always found some kind of way to slipping out of having to doing something that I knew I was supposed to do. But out of all the people in my family my mom was the strictest. When expectations set high, not meaning them meant my siblings and I typical had a week long cleaning punishments along with handing over all toys, games, and light up sneakers; about three times a week this happened to me.…
