Personal Narrative: My Family In Illinois

Improved Essays
I was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and I am the second child out of my siblings. I have an older brother, younger sister, and younger brother. We were all born in Indiana, but six months after my younger brother was born, we moved to Illinois. My father got a better job and we stayed in Illinois and lived there for six years. That is where I spent most of my childhood and finished growing up here in The Woodlands, Texas. I had made many great memories in Illinois.
It was a fantastic place to live as a child given that I got to play in snow, ice skate, and enjoy many winter festivities. Since I have moved to Texas I have not had any good opportunities to do. Plus, most of our family had lived in Kankakee or near us so we got to see each other often. We even had a Williams family reunion every year. I remember one year in particular that I was finally old enough to play softball with a bunch of my family members at the reunion. It was such a fantastic day out with perfect weather. I was on my father’s team and we just enjoyed playing most of the day and in the end our team had won the game and we all just had a blast together.

The first house we lived in was located in Bowling Brooke and we lived there for four years. After that we moved to Aurora to be closer to my father’s work, which is where we spent the remaining two years until my dad got a job opportunity here in Texas. Once we moved to Texas in March 2008, I started school here in fifth grade, later moved up to McCullough, and finally just last year I graduated from The Woodlands high school. After graduating I decided to go to Blinn College, which is in College Station. I lived there for one semester, but due to unfortunate circumstances I had to move back home. However, it was still a great opportunity for me to experience living on my own and I did get the chance to meet many new

It felt sort of like in the book when Jeannette says, “We moved around like nomads” (Walls 19). I was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, and my family moved to Zanesville, Ohio when I was about nine months old. That move was hardly a tragic experience for me seeing as I don’t remember it, so I don’t think it really counts. I lived in Zanesville until I was almost nine years old. This was the only place I had ever known, and when my parents said that we were moving, I was in complete disbelief.…

“Would you like to come over?” I can vividly remember her voice inquiring. Its high pitched tone could only belong to one individual: Ashley Edmondson. Over the next few years we would become inseparable, but in that moment we had only known each other for a few weeks. Family Introduction Creating this genogram was a difficult task for me because my parents and their siblings hardly communicate with each other anymore. Ever since the passing of both my paternal grandfather and maternal grandmother, the families have simply fallen apart.
