I visited a few of the classes, interacted with other pastoral candidates, seminarians, and the professors. I absorbed as much of the seminary that I could in a single weekend. I had a graduate degree in the field of organizational leadership. However, I was a temporary line worker in a battery packaging plant, where I drove an hour each way for just fifty cents above minimum wage. The next year did not open like the previous one. I moved forward as life does happen when you are busy making other plans. Life is a real struggle to continue, but I have faith and life will prevail. Instead of having well-defined plans, I have contingencies based on a faith that no matter what happens, I will survive.
I continued to move forward, taking one-step at a time. Life truly is what you make of it. No matter where you are, no one has the power to take it from you, unless you let him or her do it. It is something that my nine, fifteen, or twenty-five year-old-self did not understand. Had one, and I must reiterate, if one teacher or adult who was observant to recognize that I was being bullied or had given me encouragement of this singular idea when I was a child.
