We began with kayaking around Rheault Bay by our cottages on Turnbull Island. While we were out on the kayaks, we also practiced kayak emergency procedures like the “T-Boat” rescue. Back on land, we practiced campsite activities like building a fire, setting up a tent and campsite cooking. We then brainstormed items we need and created group and personal equipment lists (shown below.)…

Final portfolio I didn’t score high enough in my SAT exam so I was put in this class automatically; quickly after this course began I could already see an improvement in my writing. Being brought up in Ireland I knew that the transition between English there and English in America would have been a lot different. The way our education system works is a lot different from here meaning that I haven’t actually studied any form of English in the past three years, I knew this semester would be a completely new learning experience for me. The last time I studied English was at a grammar school in the town which I was brought up in.…

For my final portfolio I decided to use a research paper I did for project one in the beginning of the semester. To begin with I wrote this paper without taking a careful look at what I was writing. I mostly let my thoughts flow and let my fingers do the typing. However once, we did the peer review in class I had noticed that my partner had a good amount of corrections written down on my paper for me to look at. After I got my paper back I looked at the revisions made and saw I had some sentences that would go off topic from what I was talking about, I repeated myself, and had a lot of grammatical errors.…

Now that I have shared my personal experience, it should now be clear on how my own experience can truly connects to the opening concepts each author seemingly focuses on. Of course, one should also understand how the differing factors that lead to such personal experiences also connect to the main concept terms. When it comes to Rall, it would probably all started during my senior year in Pasadena High School, where I was engulfed by the United States’ primary elections. This was due to my AP Government course, as I would have to watch the news every day and see what is going on with our current politics outside the classroom. This all eventually led to the discovery of one radical Republican candidate, Donald J. Trump.…

This portfolio in the making for the past 8 weeks has really shown me that my voice is both unique yet very narrow in creativity. The way I look at my past writings tells me that I am into one large open genre: Fantasy. I feel that stories like these are influenced by other stories or games. For example my “Tale” story was going to turn out as a twisted version of “Alice in Wonderland” series, but due to the lack of time and struggles of giving the meaning behind the story it was shortened to just one bit. Both of those pieces so far have definitely been leaning towards that category of fantasy; however I hope to be able to reach to another type of story that is beyond my normal voice when it comes to writing.…

I got invited to go on a camping trip with some friends in the Adirondack mountains, and being 16 years old, my parents thought I was old enough to go on this trip by myself. I was so excited! I was thinking of all the fun things I could do in a place that I’ve never been too; kayaking, swimming, fishing. I got invited in January and the trip was in September, so I had a lot of time to pack and get prepared. I was going to be there for ten days…

Before I came into college I was a lazy little girl who would do all her homework, and then lay in bed while watching Netflix. I took 4 hour naps a day, if I did not take these naps I would not be able to function throughout the evening. When it comes to my well-being and how I function on a day-to-day life was always a little unsure. I always put everyone else before myself that is always making sure they were all okay while I suffered because I felt like no one was there for me anymore because I had to be the strong one and hold it all together for my friends. As I entered college, I knew I was not going to have the same issues I did in high school.…
