My very first experience with working in group was couple of years ago during a final year project, in my country of birth. The project was in community medicine, and involved repeated trip to a rural community by my group to access their health status, and needs. We had many challenges, but overcame them all as a group. There are multiple ways I am a leader within my community. The main way I lead my peers is through sports. I have been on my different teams; volleyball, basketball, track, and softball have all given me the opportunity to build my character and to lead by example. I was the volleyball team captain for my junior and senior year, so many of the younger girls were looking up to me. The best way to lead is by your actions; I would always go hard in practices and games to show the underclassmen that in order to get the best results, you need to give it your all.…

For me, it’s not easy working with others because I like to take ownership of my work. It was a great experience to see the importance of the synergies that were created, as effective division of work and proper communication made a very big project manageable. Also, completely reading the instructions is an important lesson the we learned and can take anywhere. While we were confident about our material in the presentation, we didn’t follow the guidelines well, which hurt us. In fact, my group members were very helpful and whenever one of us had trouble with something we would all participate in solving her problem or giving her helpful tips to solve it. By helping, supporting and motivating each other it made the project easier to solve and it helped us in achieving our work in the most effective time and ways. Here are some points I loved about the experience, firstly being a part of a group helped in developing my skills and we were able to achieve more work than in working individually. Secondly, we had more time to manage and plan. Thirdly I developed more communicating skills and team commitment and also I had more exchange of information between myself and our group members.…
