Personal Narrative: My Experience With US Government Classes

Decent Essays
I have a long educational history experience with US government classes. It all started in high school where it was a requirement to graduate, I took one US government class in high school, and now I have to take it again. As much as I enjoy US government classes or related studies areas, this time it is a requirement for me to take and pass this US government class again; however, my two mean reasons for taking the class this semester is not only because it is a required course for me, but, it is because I enjoy learning about politics and government. With that being said, regardless it was required or not I was planning on taking it anyway. I am a political science major; as a result, I have to take at least three courses of POS such as …show more content…
Politics is, and I would take it over anything. Even for my electives I took classes like International politics, planning on taking state and local government etc. In my opinion, these types of classes can be beneficial to anybody as they will get the opportunity to learn, and have a better understanding on how the government really works and learn about other important tasks about government or politics. A lot of people think every politician is not being truthful, or every government for every country is corrupted. I believe that, taking classes like US government can actually prove them wrong at some point because they will learn the different branches , how is it constitute , and how it really works. For example, a lot of people tend to criticize the president of a country for absolutely anything that happens in a country, little do they know the president is not always allowed to take certain decisions on his or her own or just pass an executive order for the purpose. There are rules and regulations that have to be followed, and congress has to vote and all of that good stuff.
Overall, I love politics, and I am patiently waiting to learn more this semester. Although it is a requirement for my major, I will not take advantage of coming to class, doing my work to only pass with a good grade instead I will follow all the rules my instructor gave me, take the class to the

My first memory at North Carolina Governor’s School West is of crying next to my parents on a bench under a giant tree. It was move-in day for the five-and-a-half-week session, and I was already sure that they would be the worst weeks of my life. I was terrified; I knew no one except two students from my high school, who were rising juniors and to whom I had never spoken before. After that stressful first day, I fell asleep unsure of how I could make it on my own in a place filled with such talented, intelligent, and unfamiliar people. A week later, I knew that Governor’s School would be one of the most treasured experiences of my entire life.…

When I began to wonder who I should interview for this assignment, I decided to interview my government professor David Prindle because he was the most interesting person. Thus, I began to prepare my meet with him by devising some questions to ask. When I imagined how the interview would go, I thought he would agree to meet me at during his office hours on Friday. I expected the interview to last around 20 to 30 minutes. I figured that some of the answers I would get would be predictable, such as what major he studied in college.…

I am interested in going to Badger Girls State because this would be an amazing once in a lifetime opportunity and a privilege for me. My ancestors have always been involved in politics, from signing the Mayflower Compact, being written about in George Washington’s letters, fighting for women’s suffrage, and even now, voting, and voicing their opinions in the elections. I not only grew up learning about politics, but want to pursue a career as a political science teacher. I don’t believe my generation fully understands politics and how important it is for them to vote and get involved in politics. I want to change this in my own classroom.…

A highlight of this course for me personally was when I reflected on Canada’s voting system. The Canadians voting system is extremely important, as it determines who wins the election. The Canadian voting system is important for everyone living in Canada. This is because the federal winner of the election, will represent Canada as a whole. The academic system of current society attempts to prepare students for working in the real world. The majority of students are encouraged to pursue studies in areas such as business and technology because it will ensure a high paying job and promote economic growth. Lately, students have begun to question whether studying the humanities are worth the tuition costs, and if a technical or science based major is a better option. Martha Nussbaum, in her essay “ Education for Profit, Education for Democracy”, brings attention to how “the current focus on education as a form of career training fails to teach students the skills necessary to participate in the political process” (61). Liberal arts schools aim to strengthen a student’s range of knowledge through the studies of arts and humanities.…

Electoral College Process With the upcoming presidential election in November 2106, I believe that it is important to understand our government, and how the leader of our country will truly be selected, come election time. Most people think that their vote personally effects who wins the presidency, but what they do not realize, is that there is a system in place called the Electoral College. I am a firm believer in educated voting, and knowing how the system works plays hand in hand with being educated on the candidate that you are voting for. In my generation, it seems that most people get out to vote just to vote, without really doing their research, and I do not believe that this is what voting is all about.…

I decided I wanted to be a lobbyist; someone who would lobby on behalf of farmers’ interests and the agricultural industry as a whole. I plan on majoring in Public Relations with a minor in Political Science to help prepare me for a career in lobbying.…

Through my personal experience at the Government class, 10 on 15 students fall asleep after 15-minute, teacher doesn’t really mind about them a lot because they claim that it is futile, they are not going to work in political party leads to unaware of that. Furthermore, they do lose their benefits, the opportunity to gain knowledge, to know what certain things exceeding around them like “Third Party”(Green Party) the connection between Democratic and Republic, if you neither like Trump nor Clinton, we have Gary Johnson who will satisfy the advantages from both sides; or we may have what is “touching elbow” is, that is a dinner between political parties to gain benefits or being a part of government, especially those people who don 't like to have great responsibility as president, they can role as Mayor, Senator or House of Representatives. That is “give and take”, if you try hard to follow something, it will be beneficial in the future, ignore politic seems like ignore your life, when something happens, you can’t blame for anything because you did not participate in political activity. Consequently, political ignorance in America is in alert, a lot of people are lack of knowledge about politics, they are just chasing money- the thing in front of their eyes, and forget something that is more relevant, which affects directly toward their lives, government, political.…
