First, the people in the Honors community destroyed the stereotype I had in mind for them. It’s filled with a bunch of not only smart students, but social, outgoing people as well. It was quite easy to feel at home with these people, and make friends right away because of goals and attitudes. One of the first weeks Chandler and I, along with some others on our floor, went to target. I don’t remember what we went for, but Chandler any myself both left the store with Razor scooters meant for kids less the 100 pounds. But, we got them anyways and rode around campus, much to the confusion of other students walking on West Pine. This little impulsive purchase led to what I would call a trend, because before when it was warmer, you could always see someone cruising down West Pine on a scooter. Louis area. During LC Day of Service I went to Revitalization 2000, which was a program that paid inner city youth to do various yard/grounds work. Some of this money was kept for them in a college fund, which they could access later, helping them pay for a education. We helped this program by digging up weeds, and getting a garden area ready for the winter season. It felt good to help those in need in this area, because by the looks of the worn-down houses, these residents had seen their fair share of hardships.
